Political Discussion
Of course we remember things like this. But to your question, let's reframe it - You don't understand why people don't agree with you when you try to suggest that half of America needs to be demonized and held accountable for the actions of a dozen and a half randos at a protest? |
+1 That period in a nutshell:
|
DP. I should have read ahead - this is *exactly* the incident that comes to mind when I remember that time period. There were so many just like this, but this is the one that I'll always remember. |
I don’t have any idea what you’re talking about because I never said that. My point is that people have not forgotten about these things and the right has convinced a significant number of people to hold it against the Democrats. I don’t think that’s logical or reasonable. I’m simply identifying the phenomenon. |
Whose term did the school closures happen under? Trump's. |
Agree, the Dem Party has lacked national leadership since Obama left office and it has really shown. The only reason there is light at the end of the tunnel for Dems is the Trump second term debacle giving Dems an easy road to election victories in 2026 and 2028. If not for Trump, the Dem Party as we know it would be screwed and obsolete sooner than later. |
DP. Let me turn that back on you. Are you one of the Democrats who *CONSTANTLY* calls people "MAGA" if they refuse to agree with you? I mean, seriously? This site is full of liberals who hurl that phrase (MAGA) at anyone who dares to express a different opinion, and often, it doesn't even involve politics! It's become shorthand for, "I don't like you and I don't like what you just said, so I'm going to call you 'MAGA' because I can't respectfully debate or express my own opinion." People like that are absolutely always suggesting that half of America needs to be demonized and held accountable. Enough, already. |
Of course, because that's all the right has anymore. Just lies, distortions, demonization and attacks. Sad that they can't be bothered to actually govern or come up with policies that help someone other than corrupt billionaire donors. |
DP. C'mon man. We are all aware it wasn't Trump keeping schools closed. It was the liberal school boards and teachers' unions - and you know it. |
| The entire premise of this thread is gaslighting. Of course there's a radical left. Pretending otherwise is simply playacting and wishful thinking. |
PP. I agree. But the democrats can either lament the unfairness or they can figure out a strategy that works. But pretending that this phenomenon isn’t real and burying their heads in the sand isn’t going to accomplish anything. |
+1 Very well put. |
For my part, I only call people MAGA when they use MAGA talking points rather than actually engaging in thoughtful debate. And by that, I mean they don't actually listen to the other side, and don't actually respond using facts or logic, or just go back to repeating the same distorted or non-factual MAGA talking point that someone already thoroughly debunked in the thread. If you find yourself constantly being called MAGA then maybe you should bear that in mind and do a better job with your own debating. Debating doesn't mean just repeating yourself. But sadly that is exactly what 95% plus of the "MAGA" side of this site does. |
Exactly. As awful and unfit as Biden was, I'd take his silliness over Trump anyday. |
Of course there is a radical left. Just as there is a radical right. But let's stop demonizing every single poster on DCUM as if they are part of that. The MAGAs constantly trying to pretend every single person on this message board who disagrees with Trump is a deranged blue haired untreated psychosis patient and trans person who wants to shoot ICE agents, have no borders, and force abortions and gay weddings on people who don't want or need them is so damn tiring. We're sick of having your grossly distorted MAGA worldview of "ThE RAdIcAL LeFT" pushed everywhere. |
