Political Discussion
| There is definitely a radical left. They are organizing bottom up and running on the Dem ticket in some cases. They also are in teachers unions, they are judges and local councilors etc. They draw very radical types to work for them and vote for them. I've got a city councilor who fancies herself the 'baby AOC' who responds kindly to anarchists on her social media, loathes democrats in higher office and goes after them also on social media and makes tik toks about arming the public and why shop lifting is ok. I think almost every American would find this radical. |
| The radical left exists. They're the ones who stayed home instead of voting for Kamala Harris because she didn't pass their purity test. Trump should thank them. |
Well, and look at the Middle East now. Maybe they were right. |
Here’s where the left loses me: You want human rights and dignity for all people except for the ones in the womb. And I say this as someone who won’t belong to either party. I don’t see how you get to claim the moral high ground. |
Not the person you’re responding to. Abortion is the moral high ground because it cares for people who are part of society first. Kids without parents are very hard to care for. A mother who doesn’t want to be a parent can’t be a parent. Often that’s someone who already is a parent and knows they can’t handle another child. Look around, this is how nature works. Life is cheap only some survive to adulthood. Excess birth falls to disease, predator satiation, or momma just abandons the runt when moving the litter. You don’t want to adopt an adult living on the street, quit pretending there are homes for unborn babies. |
Plus, abortion bans kill mothers. https://publichealth.jhu.edu/2026/study-higher-maternal-death-rate-in-states-with-abortion-bans |
Wants to overthrow the govt. Hates Dems. Gun nuttery. Excusing criminality is a toss up. Sounds more like a MAGA. |
I don't get how "pro lifers" get to claim any moral high ground. They demand every pregnancy be carried to term, even unviable fetuses, even children that were raped, even pregnancies that would cause the mother to die if carried to term, and the moment the child is born they completely turn their backs on them, they don't care if the baby goes without healthcare, without food, if the kid gets shot to death in their school, etc. "Pro life" is the biggest political hypocrisy ever. |
New poster. I’m pro-life. Being pro-life means opposition to abortion. I’m opposed to abortion because abortion is a procedure that is designed to and does deliberately kill human life. Are there edge cases where the rationale for an abortion looks more understandable? Sure. But that’s true in any policy judgment, and abortion is pretty much only the topic of conversation where its defenders act like that’s some deep insight. You can rightly say that America has too many guns or a gun violence problem, but no one would deny that there are marginal cases where a gun has been a useful tool to stop something bad. To take another example, there are people who violate a penal statute who get no punishment because they have a legally recognized excuse or justification. To take a third example, there are people who use distributionally unjust tax cuts to start a valuable business. Those situations are not some sort of “gotcha” that flips the terms of the debate; they’re just the reality that, in a huge country, you can usually find an anecdote that, if universalized, would support your policy preferences. In general, the core point of dispute on abortion is whether it’s good or bad. The pro-choice side feels more uncomfortable calling it “good” than the pro-life side feels calling it “bad.” That is because it is mostly bad. |

No.
They haven’t been “duped.” They WANT to believe in the crazy left as a dangerous enemy. They are disgusting peoples. Rather sadly, the same applies to the corporate Democrats. In a saner country, the Squad, Bernie Sanders, and Sen Van Hollen would not be outliers for their various acts of bravery in their careers. Sherrod Brown and Cori Bush would still be in office. And we might be establishing healthcare as a human right. But MAGA, “good” Romney style republicans, AND neoliberals (Clinton, Biden, Pelosi, Schumer) DNGAF about ANYONE in this country. |
If you didn’t love your kids enough to keep them reading during a pandemic that killed several people I know of, including a physician and a grandmother who contracted it IN the hospital, that’s your own sin. Grownups do not point back to 2020 and say that ruined them. That’s what a child would do. If you got a divorce or a demotion or a child of yours is no longer close to you, you most certainly had a hand in it. Enough. |
Maybe they refused the covid vaccine and got fired from a job. That could cause all sorts of cascading problems for people. Have we forgotten that event already? |
Covid shattered my whole career path and we are just now recovering but of course have been set back 5 years. Nothing childish about acknowledging reality. |
I think the decision ultimately lies with the person carrying the baby in serious consultation with their medical professionals and their partner. I do not think it should be a state decision. It should not be a decision made in a vacuum either. People need appropriate relationship and sex education before conception. |
Is that the government doing it? No? It is people on social media - not the real world. |
