FCPS Skyview Boundary Scenario 1/2/3

If TJ is #1, Langley is #2, Woodson is #4, Oakton is #5, Chantilly is #8, where do you see Skyview fitting?

Just stop. Your question doesn’t even make sense because Skyview will have sports once it has kids coming from within a boundary.

If you are that close, you or your spouse should just drop the kid off.

How about the afternoon? School ends at 2:45 and we're both at work.
surely, you can talk through the options and figure what works best for your family.

It just seems that their priorities are misplaced. The base schools will have lots of juniors and seniors, as well as younger students who have stayed because they'd like to participate in sports or some other after-school activity. It's a group that is less likely to ride the bus home, because they're driving themselves and/or remaining at school after the buses leave. Meanwhile Skyview will be limited to freshmen and sophomores who won't be driving or playing sports.

What do you want? Buses dedicated to Skyview driving all over Fairfax to pick up Skyview only students? There aren't enough buses or drivers, and Larla would have a two hour bus ride with such long routes.

How about having the buses that are already coming from base schools all over Fairfax (and likely aren't full) stop within the Skyview boundary and pick up some kids who live there?

You want for instance, a bus going to Oakton to pick up Oakton kids, then pick up Skyview kids, drop off the Skyview kids, and then go to Oakton? That's your suggestion?

What a stupid question. Its average SATs scores will reflect the demographics that get zoned to it, like every other FCPS neighborhood school. No one knows who will be zoned to it yet.

That makes zero sense. Robinson, Lake Braddock, Hayfield are on 8-2:45.

Skyview could share Carson buses. Bell is 7:30=2:15. 2:15 out at Skyview gives time for sports shuttle transport

That's a good idea. Someone should send in the suggestion.

Along with that gem I posted, Hughes/SL and SCMS/HS should share buses. Cooper is on the 7:30-2:15. Langley is a straight 1.4 mile run down Georgetown Pike from Cooper. That thing is in boundary only for AAP. Should get Cooper then Langley drop off until such time as my taxes are no longer paying to cart people whose parents vote at Herndon HS to Langley.

It’s not even noon and you’ve found a way to attack Langley, which is not part of the Skyview boundary review.

When they say “grumble, grumble,” know that they are talking about people like you.

+1. The level of obsession that she has about Langley really does worry me. It’s clearly very personal for her and it seems like it occupies vast amounts of her day.

Not either PP. However, Langley had no trouble weighing in on Skyview purchase. Just sayin'...

Are they going to change Skyview start and end times to give students time to get to their base high schools after school for sports?

But this thread isn’t related to that, so stop posting here. You just look desperate and small.

I'm sorry what? That was literally my only post on this thread and it was basically telling people to stop talking about Langley because it's not relevant here. Are YOU the grumble grumble lady? Is there something wrong with you?

I think the other thread got locked because this one was already to three page before I reported it.

I absolutely do not want my 7th grade girl on a bus with 12th grade men. Absolutely NOT.

Good in theory. Might depend on the utilization of the current buses. Are they full?

No. We need to protect young girls.

No, rising 9th graders could chose to opt in or attend their current school. She might not have transportation Junior and Senior year if your house is in boundary for Skyview.

We are currently bordered for Oakton HS. Based on scenario 3, it may change to Chantilly HS. We want to stay at Oakton.

You won’t have that option. The only school where there has been a choice is Skyview. The recent boundary changes did not give the students a choice to stay at their HS unless they were rising Seniors.

This is NOT correct. All HS students (i.e., rising 10th-12th students) were permitted to remain at their current HS in the comprehensive boundary review per policy 8130.

+1. That was pointed out earlier. I think a lot of people expecting to be affected by Skyview checked out of the earlier boundary review and didn’t follow what happened. Unfortunately some of them regularly post misinformation now, which undermines their credibility when they post about things relating to Skyview as well.

Doesn't this happen at secondary schools? Kind of weird to assume the bus is full of predators. What are you teaching your daughter?
