Sales tax exemption, not property tax. That reduces the construction cost but doesn't reduce recurring taxes on the $136 million data center.

Absolutely terminal lawyer brain on display in this thread. “I don’t understand what AI is or how it works but I do know one thing and it’s that we need REGULATION on it!” EU bureaucrat ass thought process

And yet you have not once indicated any reason that unfettered growth of AI is more important than the environmental effects it is creating.

Horrible for the environment and we are subsidizing their electrical usage, all while local white collar jobs are being taken away.

That's simply untrue. AI is reshaping the industry. Those that don't adapt to the changes will be left behind.

The companies selling AI are basically saying it will cause mass unemployment and job losses. So they are either lying about the utility of their product or making a genuine statement. Either one is not positive for society because these massive job losses or infrastructure build out is heavily subsidized by the government/taxpayers.

Unless you are directly involved with these data centers and what type of data they process.. you don't know anything.

You are told AI is developed to replace human workers or for other reasons, but unless you know what type of data they are collecting and how it is used you don't know sh*t

Remember when we were told that cloud computing would end the careers of IT workers? We were promised that the IT group at your business would be reduced to a single employee, if that.

So, yeah. I am not ready to throw my shoes into the machines yet.

Sure, but have you seen the jobs data for all of 2025 and the Feb 2026 report? So far, we're hemorrhaging and seems it will be getting worse, not better.

Is it really that the companies don’t need employees, or are they getting FOMO and redirecting all of their cash into AI “investment” that may or may not be worth it?

Remember when young employees thought they could dictate things like WFH and extra time off to their employers?

That was cute.

And the real, tangible costs that we are going to incur.
