Need ideas for a sporty school

How about Vandy although a harder admit than either of the USCs. Nashville is more mid-south than true south and more liberal than TN (with Vandy more liberal than Nashville as a whole). Tons of fun. Great academics. Rapidly improving sports. No shortage of party opportunities.

She said “no South.” Agree that Nashville is as blue as they come but NYC types who insist on No South imagine that every single resident is MTG or Marsha Blackburn. Plus, they’ll face barriers to all the many abortions they’re anticipating in college

How is USC a tough admit while Cornell is possible? This doesn't make sense.

Depends on your HS. USC is very tough admit from our high school - like basically impossible - unless you have a drama portfolio. Cornell will take kids into the high 3.8s from our HS is test scores are good

I don't think OP means "no South" in the extreme way that a lot of PPs do. She said Tulane is off the table not because it's in New Orleans but rather because the M/F ratio is whack. If Tulane garners that much consideration, why not Vandy or Miami?

I think OP just means "no Bama/Ole Miss/LSU/similar."

For most kids who are into school spirit and watching sports, the key is whether a big (big enough) cohort of kids at the school share their interest in football/basketball/hockey/soccer/lacrosse etc. and actually show up to games.

Plenty of ACC schools (possibly all??) fit that profile, including many that are far from national champion contenders. Thinking of Pitt, in particular here ….

For good privates look at Bucknell and Holy Cross. HC has a business major and top producer for Corporate C Suite jobs. Lots of sports and parties. At Bucknell more remote but they have Greek life. Both better than large state flagships.

Google Holy Cross and they offer Accounting degree catering to big CPA firms and corporate jobs such as CFOs. Might be only top 25 LAC with accounting major. Also HC has a very dynamic Black President.(
