Those are big school where they are more likely to find some students with similar sensibilities. And of course they have sports and business majors in Eugene and Seattle.

you have a maga view of woke.

there have been a dozen plus schools listed in this thread that fit her criteria

She’s a typical, boring sorority chick who votes Democrat. We can see through the “woke” label…

see through to what? a girl with good grades who wants to study business and join a sorority? sounds so NORMAL to me. and woke means what to you? wanting to avoid Trumpers? yeah, that's more and more people and def more and more young people.

I went and looked at the 68 teams that made the NCAA Men's BB Div I tournament last year and tried to look based on criteria mentioned...

how about considering some of these?

Arizona
Louisville
Michigan State
Marquette
San Diego State
New Mexico
Saint Mary’s
Illinois
Seton Hall

I might rethink applying to UCs. UCLA doesn't have a regular bus major, just bus economics which isn't the same. plus extremely hard to get into. then you really are doing the whole uc app just for chance at berkeley-haas? if you love it then yes but something to ponder.

oregon and arizona (both have honors) are great choices.

What about U Denver? great hockey and business, liberal state. will get great merit

Oregon is not racist but can be socially challenging for students of color. I know someone whose African American DD transferred. She said the kids were nice but hard to relate to. So definitely visit.

How has nobody mentioned Miami for a kid who has USC as a dream and Syracuse as a safety?

She doesn't want south or conservative. in DCUM parlance, we're very woke. She has good academics but USC is a tough admit. a place like Syracuse would be a safety, possibly with merit. She has Michigan and Wisconsin and some UCs on her list. Cornell is possible, but she wants to study business and she won't get into Dyson. She'd get into Tulane, but is put off by male/female lopsided nature. We'll look at Indiana. I tried to talk her into BC but we toured and she's not down for Catholic. (we're also not white and it seemed very white on tour).

Coming from NYC. Full pay

Any ideas?

Yeah- I would have said BC too. It’s perfect for what she wants. Football a big deal!

OP stated explicitly the student doesn’t want the south…

I overlooked that Colgate doesn't offer a business major, however.

I third Colgate. It has some business-related pilot program with Dartmouth’s business school.
Most SLAC and many Ivy schools historically did not offer pre-professional majors/degrees, but many pre-business/finance types get good connections for employment by majoring in Econ or whatever.

Another safety option: Hobart.

How about Vandy although a harder admit than either of the USCs. Nashville is more mid-south than true south and more liberal than TN (with Vandy more liberal than Nashville as a whole). Tons of fun. Great academics. Rapidly improving sports. No shortage of party opportunities.

In Florida, the further south you go, the further north you get. Miami is basically NYC with more attractive people, sandy beaches and palm trees.

Georgetown hasn't been sporty in decades.

OP said no southern schools, so that excludes Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech, UNC, USC, Clemson and Georgia.

Maryland (particularly the DC suburbs) is not "the south".

But OP said they want “woke.” Living in Florida with Gov. DeSantis might be a problem for this family. Also, Florida is the south.
