Need ideas for a sporty school

My DC attends a Catholic school and found Notre Dame vibe way too be too religious, so I think someone who found BC too Catholic would not be down for life in South Bend. Just saying…

She doesn't want south or conservative. in DCUM parlance, we're very woke. She has good academics but USC is a tough admit. a place like Syracuse would be a safety, possibly with merit. She has Michigan and Wisconsin and some UCs on her list. Cornell is possible, but she wants to study business and she won't get into Dyson. She'd get into Tulane, but is put off by male/female lopsided nature. We'll look at Indiana. I tried to talk her into BC but we toured and she's not down for Catholic. (we're also not white and it seemed very white on tour).

Coming from NYC. Full pay

Any ideas?

I overlooked that Colgate doesn't offer a business major, however.

CU Boulder is great! Also don't discount Colorado State.

Others:
Univ of Oregon
Univ of Illinois
Penn State
UConn
Virginia Tech

There aren't that many sporty schools (like Southern California) if you rule out conservative states. Even less if you want the school to be ranked fairly high.

Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Washington. Also Maryland and UVA? Or are they in the "South"?

I personally believe than 10 college apps are plenty and you have something like:

USC
Cornell
Wisc
MI
Indiana
Syracuse
UCLA
UCSD
Cal

So you need a maybe couple more? I'd consider:
- MN or UMass Amherst as another safety at a better price point,
- McGill or St Andrews - no sports but plenty of parties and great business
- Santa Clara is more diverse than BC with great business and internships,
- Another reach per your counselor/naviance.

DCUM really hates people who are woke. MAGA all the way.

well this is bullshit. there are plenty of sporty schools that aren't in the south.

Agree with this. You have a great list now. Add a couple more and you're done. Dartmouth is possible depending on your HS. we have kids who get in there who are shut out of USC.

CU Boulder fits right in with your list. Such a great school.

I think Syracuse sounds perfect for her. Also like the suggestions of Penn State and Ohio State.

UCLA does not have a lot of school spirit. Lots of empty seats at football and basketball games. Parties seem to be only held by frats. Only 1 bar in Westwood.

What in the world are you talking about? Every northern/midwest state has rah rah schools with football. Including some of the best programs in the county.
