Hayfield Investigation Report

Yes, the report is finalized and the school board has had it for 2-3 weeks. I’ve been told it is going to be released in the next two weeks. The excerpts I was read are not good for Reid. I think they are hoping that people think this is old news and move on to the next crisis.

How do we know it is finalized? That's what I'm asking. Who has confirmed this?

Assume it has been, and it's 2-3 weeks. Why does any rational thinking person actually believe it would have been released already?

It will have several people and layers of review before getting released.

And if it was released amidst all the boundary review stuff people will still just claim it is being buried.

Trust that no one cares what he’s doing and all focus is on how poorly the county managed it.

Is it managed poorly when we are talking about South County, Westfields, or Madison?

You are a clueless clown. NO ONE has tried to pull what Overton and Hayfield did. The DSA was proven to have knowledge when he interviewed Overton that a bunch of kids were coming with him. AND then they did and a bunch of others. But this isn’t about Overton. It’s about an administration that lied and looked the other way to avoid disciplining a black coach and principal.

Oh yeah. They’d just hate to discipline a black coach and black principal.

Let it go.... let it go....

It’s not about football. It’s about fraud. And a coverup. And incompetence. It’s time they released the report. If they don’t, someone should FOIA it.

We need the report and consequences for bad actions by Reid and other administration who failed to investigate and discipline and retaliated against those who shared concerns. The board gave Reid a huge early raise and added personal security for her. Hope they have the principles to discipline for what the report shows. God knows her multiple emails to all FCPS showed she was screwing up in real time.

Seems like I read a story about this pretty soon after Overton came to Hayfield. Is this right? Should they not have done something right away to stop it?

Your point about high school football is a good one, but can cut the other way. As a former NCAA D1 scholarship athlete who took academics seriously, I was always amazed at how university presidents looked the other way when it came to football. With NIL, the corrupting impact of football is even greater today than ever - so much so it is likely not sustainable. So now we see a case of serious recruiting in a local public high school with numerous violations of rules - in, as you state, just high school football. High school sports should be about participation. That is the proper perspective for a public high school.

Overton likely made a wise choice. I don’t understand parents who choose the St James option but it is clearly their choice and their risk return decision.

I do wish parents would understand the challenges of athletic scholarships, the goal of so many parents, largely for the ego factor.

I used to get aggravated at African American athletes who were both bright and interesting yet worked to lesser expectations. I didn’t blame them, but the adults. And yes many of them were football players. A high school athletic department does have the responsibility to set the right tone, culture and perspective. If it is just high school football, perspective and culture matter.

Fairfax had a coach that paid the family of a a player. That’s a bigger violation than anything Overton had been alleged of doing.

Overton was never even found to have committed any violations, but we do have some other schools in Fairfax County that are currently getting athletes from outside of their schools boundaries. It was a problem when people thought Overton was doing it.

The year Overtons team was pulled, another team with a suspect roster took its place representing Nova in the championship, and that team continues to have one of the stronger football programs in Fairfax County. Now all over the county we are seeing schools with kids from outside the school’s zoning boundaries in order to boost their football, Lacrosse, baseball, or basketball programs. Yet we are still worried about Overton.

No one is worried or cares about cheating loser Overton and his clown posse of assistant losers. They have slunk off to work at a gym, who cares?

We are very interested in the behavior of our FCPS staff.

You Overton supporters love to throw out vague accusations but never have evidence or details. Fairfax high school was punished, admitted to cheating, and is currently being investigated. The head
Coach has been on leave all school year. Hayfield and Overton did none of that. They lied, covered up, and left town before they could be punished. Still to this day no one at Hayfield has admitted to anything.
What facts do you have that other schools are cheating? Show us the evidence. There are a few programs in FCPS that have several transfers, but those kids were vetted and cleared by the school and FCPS before they were permitted to play. Some were even get turned away. Hayfield illegally made kids immediately eligible, did no investigation to check them, and arrogantly displayed it for everyone to see. Once they complaining got too loud to ignore the county stepped in and tried to cover it up so they didn’t have to punish a black principal and coach publicly. THIS IS WHY THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION AND REPORT NOW. The public wants to know if we can trust our school district leaders to make sound and ethical decisions. The report will be embarrassing for Dr. Reid. It will say that she knew about and was told by her investigators that Hayfield was breaking rules and chose to support them anyway. Not sure if it’s fireable, but damn sure it’s embarrassing and unethical.

Agree, hopefully all the hangers-on are off the FCPS-Hayfield dole by now and can go leach off the st james gym. Who cares what cheating happens outside the school system at their own private AAU orgs? Its not even a school.

We want to know exactly what FCPS staff did, and when. I have never seen VHSL overrule FCPS before. That was crazy and the clue that some really terrible behavior by FCPS was happening behind the sceners.

This is ridiculous. If they could’ve punished the Hayfield principal and coach for legit misconduct, they would gladly done so. The football team was too Black and too successful so the entire season, the white supremacists tried to stop em.

It’s called "buck breaking”. You guys stopped them from winning the championship even though there was no misconduct found. Here in the seat of the Confederacy, white supremacy is still the dominant force.

Yep, Overton trashed two high school programs and then he and his sleazy friends scurried off to work at a gym and milk gullible parents at an org not subject to any actual rules, standards or sense of morality.

The racism is so obvious that there isn’t a need to mention it. The person who brought up race was the one claiming a Black coach and a Black principal were allowed to get away with cheating because they were Black. As if some sort of Black privilege exists.

Please explain why Reid let this go and did not do something immediately. It was no secret that Overton brought all those kids with him. The principal knew and I would guess that Reid knew fairly early and chose to play dumb.
