"THEY are dragging us all down"?

Yes, people who can't have a productive or intelligent conversation about what to do next are dragging us down. Who just want to live in a constant state of name calling and anger and social media swirl. Getting off on it, in fact. Dismissing half the national population as stupid idiots who are banished forever is where these people are stuck and I wish they'd shut the hell up and get out of the way. People talk about you behind your back and think you're awful and insane. People who agree with you on most issues, by the way. Not that you care. This is broad you, not directed at one PP.

Right wingers (especially the educated) are much more tolerant of viewpoint diversity.

Right. They never want to "own the libs" or anything. They're very tolerant of pronoun choices and brands that value inclusivity in order to appeal to broader swaths of buyers, for example. And they're very patient with No Kings and anti-ICE protestors and never EVER paint them with a nasty brush. That never happens.

It’s not 1/2 it’s 1/3.

They are either stupid or evil pick one.

He’s a felon and a rapist.

I’m a younger millennial and have gotten excluded both at work and in my personal life for “being MAGA”, even though I never talk about politics with anyone. FWIW I’m not leftist but not MAGA either, not registered with either party. My BF does work for a center right org that isn’t super involved with Trump anything

Is wanting to keep your political beliefs to yourself passe in NWDC social circles?

This must be a troll. In the current environment, you must realize you are other need to take a stand against Trump otherwise you're effectively supporting his policies.

If you're not a troll, it sounds like you want to support Trump without accepting the consequences of doing so.

One reason I don’t think it’s a troll or it could be a troll, but this is a true thing… people their age don’t remember a time when Republicans were not insane.

They don’t understand the definition of conservative. They don’t know that what’s being done right now is not conservative.

They don’t understand the constitution.

They get all their information from TikTok and some of them believe kids go to school one gender and come home another gender.

I'm 39 years old. 10 years ago in 2016 there was a conversation at work about this and I said nothing. I got confronted an hour later by MY SUPERVISOR who said "you were awfully quiet at lunch today. You're a Trump supporter aren't you?"
In 2020 a coworker was fired for refusing to take a BLM photo with the department.
I'm a hospital nurse so zero reason to talk about this at work and a job where people are desperately needed.

I don’t really see how you can say that politics don’t come up in healthcare. Maybe you are young enough that you don’t remember pre-ACA where working people and single homelessness people did not have health insurance and couldn’t get medication or see a doctor and we had free clinics all over the place.
And how many other people have discharge planning that includes some kind of social program from SNF to home health to drug and alcohol rehab. It’s rare that I see someone who is paying entirely out of pocket for those things.
If you are working in healthcare and you don’t believe Black Lives Matter or that there should be social programs to help the old, the sick, and the poor, then you should be called out for it.

What do leftists think the immigration policy should be?

Genuine question.

I wouldn’t want to hang out with you either OP. I don’t need your ignorance in my life. We are waaaaayyyyyy past “differences of political opinion.” You chose to support a cruel felon, con man, rapist and I chose to not have people who did that in my life.

I cant be friends with someone who supports a s predator and protects CSA’s. I just can’t do it.

Path to citizenship. We need more immigrants. Our economy depends on it.

My DH calls me a lib bc I don’t support T. I think people should come here illegally. I don’t think people who came here illegally because our government didn’t care or came here on asylum and have engrained themselves in our world should be deported for no reason. If you are arrested or have committed a crime, fine. A speeding ticket is not a crime.

A fake one like this fake post.

You think those type of organizations do not exist? Google it. Why do you need to know what one it is? So you can be judge and jury?

In my real life (I am not the OP), I know someone with this exact dilemma. She dates someone who works for one of these places and it's her dirty dark secret she knows she'd be shunned. She's liberal herself.

What's the problem with naming this mythical "center right" organization that doesn't support Trump? It doesn't out anyone. So what's the issue? Because it doesn't exist.

AEI is not solidly pro-trump or anti-trump. Mixed bag.

Lincoln Project fits that description.

Nonsense. They support Trump, so they can't be the org OP refers to. She claims a center-right organization that doesn't support Trump exists, and that her BF works there.

What was your family's path to legal status in this country?

It should NOT be arresting working immigrants on their way to their immigration hearing when no crimes have been committed.
