Iced out for not being liberal

Right wingers (especially the educated) are much more tolerant of viewpoint diversity.

This is unfortunately very true. Leftists don't see it in themselves, however.

You can’t be serious. This isn’t about diversity, it’s about morality, it’s about being an American. Trump threatens to take our constitutional rights away from us. How can one sit by and be ok with what he is doing to innocent people? I wouldn’t be your friend either.

PEOPLE SHE SAID SHE IS NOT MAGA! SHE SAID SHE IS AN INDEPENDENT!

Her worst offense is probably not paying any attention and being apolitical.

Both sidesism normalizes fascism.

The same people who are actively censoring museums in DC right now, are you for real?

There aren't true conservatives any more. If you voted for Trump, or didn't vote D to keep Trump out of office, you are a nasty MAGA. Sounds like you and your BG are Trump voters.

EVERYONE else--all decent people--are on the same side.

Being "unbothered" by policies right now is even worse than choosing a side. This is precisely how atrocities of the past have happened. People choosing to bury their heads unless something impacts them personally. Now OP is concerned because of her dating life. What a joke.

There is no Independent any more. Either you are against Trump, or MAGGAT.

A fake one like this fake post.

You think those type of organizations do not exist? Google it. Why do you need to know what one it is? So you can be judge and jury?

In my real life (I am not the OP), I know someone with this exact dilemma. She dates someone who works for one of these places and it's her dirty dark secret she knows she'd be shunned. She's liberal herself.

Not to mention science, medicine, empathy. When kids' cancer research gets shut down that shouldn't be a political issue. Yet here we are.

This. Views toward other human beings, whether they deserve compassion, empathy, and support, matters a great deal these days. If you come across as an apathetic, uncaring person, that's enough for you to be viewed as undatable by many.

Exactly.

Let’s say we are in hitlers Germany. You like the economy, feel like the country is united. I mean yeah, Jews should probably go but whatever. Call the cops on Anne frank makes sense since they are breaking the law. We can’t be friends. In the before times you could debate policy like heath care or taxes with conservative friends. Now is lefties see the administration committing morally terrible acts, so anyone not against trump is pro trump

I'm 39 years old. 10 years ago in 2016 there was a conversation at work about this and I said nothing. I got confronted an hour later by MY SUPERVISOR who said "you were awfully quiet at lunch today. You're a Trump supporter aren't you?"
In 2020 a coworker was fired for refusing to take a BLM photo with the department.
I'm a hospital nurse so zero reason to talk about this at work and a job where people are desperately needed.

HAHAHAHAHA yes because people who dont think others should have human rights should be administering meds and responsible for caring for others!

I can't think of a single "center right" organization that is anti-Trump that exists.

OP — I did not vote for Trump and I find him to be an awful human and an embarrassment as our president. However, I am no longer feeling at home in liberal circles. I’m a center left moderate, I think. I look at individual issues and research them before I make an opinion. On some things, I lean right (immigration policy, education, transgender healthcare for minors) and on others I lean left (environment, guns, healthcare). But I feel as though I cannot speak my mind in most DC circles. I wish the left would see how their unwillingness to listen to alternate views is hurting them and our ability to get Trump OUT.

I’ll be your friend!

What's the problem with naming this mythical "center right" organization that doesn't support Trump? It doesn't out anyone. So what's the issue? Because it doesn't exist.

AEI is not solidly pro-trump or anti-trump. Mixed bag.
