Anecdotal, but I'm hearing the ED results are worse this year across the board.

Nonsense, unhooked with average stats do not get into either school.

DP here. I read that to mean “typical stats for someone attending that school” just with no hook.

Most of DC’s close friends were rejected ED. One accepted CMU. Doesn’t look good this year.

Same with most of DS’s close friends. Not sure sure this year is so tough.

It could be that since last years results for UMC white and asian kids with high stats were so terrible or random that more people did ED this year.

+1

I'm pretty sure our kid will be deferred/rejected, but it's a high reach. Everyone else who has heard already has had good results.

Seems like a great year so far.

You dont have to deal with the side eye that some other kids can give about QB, like "oh you got in bcs your FGLI" etc

All actual ED Princeton apps were mostly denied. Princeton doesnt defer a lot so always feels brutal.

Madeira had 2 ED acceptances to Princeton this year, when typically there is one or none. Girls aren’t Questbridge or athletes.

Anecdotally it's been hard for the girls I know this year. Boys are getting in left and right to the same schools.

Not surprising.

My boy and his friends are all in at their EDs. None of them were overreaching though.

Boys always do better than the girls.
The girls need something soooo different to stand out.

Add the reduction of foreign students and the reduction of aid keeping out some international and poor students, your chances of admission have improved, I don't know why the improvement would be particularly concentrated in early decision at the most selective colleges.

The reduction of foreign students should help to balance out class of 2026 being the largest senior class and the peak of the post 911 baby boom.

It was supposed to be the last really difficult admissions year before senior class enrollment starts to drop, but with fewer foreign students it might not be so bad.

One unusual annecdote at my kid's high school is that the UVA acceptances that dropped this past week are all/mostly female. Even guys with better stats than the girls accepted did not get in.

It seems like UVA is still UVA-ing, at least in regards to male acceptances.

Nope. It's next year's class (current juniors) that will reap the reward of a big drop off in applicants.

Correct.

Class of 2026 is the highest point of the demographic mountain, before the big drop off begins with class of 2027.

Demographic cliff is next year, class of 2027.

2026 is a larger graduating class than 2025

It starts with birth year 2008 which is mostly class of 2026 (unless you redshirted your kid).

You do know that pregnancy is nine month long, right? Kids born 2008 their moms pregnant in 2007.
Only birth year 2009 is affected.
