These people all think they and their spawn are intellectually superior, too. |
low effort troll |
No, but their intramural water polo league is to die for. |
Is the intramural water polo league quirky? |
| And like so many threads here, it has devolved into listening to a few bloviate in a way that has nothing to do with the topic. |

The article title says “academic home to submarine production”
To me that screams engineering, but the article itself is non decipherable. Like I said earlier, a bunch of liberal arts mumbo jumbo. So we are talking project management? If so, say so. If we talking advanced r&d, which would definitely require engineering, this article leaves much to be desired. |
I get the impressing it's talking about all of the above. They mentioned the public policy department (project management and financing), marine science school (probably has some knowledge on vessel operations), and computing and physics school (soft - engineering/software/computational modeling) |
I agree. A lot more to this project than just building a submarine. It was clear to me from the article. |
Wrong location. |

They are making the new class of nuclear subs in Hampton Roads.
"HII partners with General Dynamics to produce the Columbia-class fleet of new nuclear-powered, nuclear missile submarines. This new class will replace the aging fleet of Ohio-class nuclear missile submarines. A dozen of the new boats will be constructed at Newport News, where modules will be built for the bow, stern, weapons modules, auxiliary machinery rooms, and the submarine's superstructure. On top of the Columbia-class subs, Newport is also hard at work constructing Virginia-class fast attack submarines, which is also being done in cooperation with General Dynamics." |
| This feels like more of a political middle finger to CT and RI than a statement about W&M. |
| It’s a slap in the face to ODU . They have a School of Supply Chain,Logistics and Maritime Operations (one of the only ones on the East Coast) as well as a School of Engineering. |

VT has ocean engineering and naval
Engineering programs. My son had a naval internship and there were tons of Hokies. I can’t imagine why anyone would reconsider their kids application over this news. if your kid wants to build subs, please go to an engineering school. |
Nice try |
VT is also equal to W&M per USNWR so there is literally no reason to choose W&M over VT for engineering. |
