Weird
It should be UConn or Yale partnering with the coast guard academy CT (yes VA does as well) builds boomers and UConn and Yale have engineering departments. Yale-UConn-USCGA joint academic center would've been ideal |
| St John’s College would have been perfect. They also have no engineering dept! |
GDEB in CT is the prime and yale is 49 miles away NN is the subcontractor and W&M is 200 miles away this is purely political. The academic home should be at Yale or UConn |
| I work for a manufacturer that is prime and physical distance is no consideration. However, an engineering department would be a consideration so your point stands. |
|
ODU must be livid, as they are similarly close and have a substantial engineering program across multiple disciplines.
VT must be livid as the top engineering program in the state, although little or no presence in tidewater. That noted, W&M does have a MUCH better international reputation than ODU. Maybe W&M will leverage this to add engineering. It would be a good addition. |
UVA is definitely upset because they cut a deal with the federal government and aren't getting special treatment |
| Will the submarines be quirky? |
Yes. Absolutely. |
|
The school needs to stay relevant |
And yet I imagine how that W&M has R1 status more and more grants and programs pass over ODU for W&M |
|
How? What?
Do they even have basic engineering classes? Like nova community college level pre engineering classes? |
| I thought W&M was the school you attend if you want to major in poetry or womens studies. How does this happen? |
Yes they have an engineering physics program and an applied science department. There's an intro to engineering class and a material science class |
| It not just engineering. It's finance, supply chain, operations, fundraising. Many different components. Read the article. |
