Articles from 2012 seem irrelevant. Sorry you still don’t have a med school.

All of this went down in 2012, so how are articles from that year irrelevant?

You don’t have something less than five years old? If you were writing a research paper at W&M surely you wouldn’t be citing outdated sources.

Why would there be a newer source on something no longer being discussed

Just admit that W&M missed the opportunity to get a medical school. Sorry.

?? My whole point was that they weren't interested. Why are you acting like a whiny petty little child - let's try to have an adult conversation here.

I think that person is young. Or at least acts very young. Likes derailing most threads.

Kind of like when you get rejected you pretend like you didn’t want it to begin with?

Very interesting and surprising news. I'm curious what this means if anyone has any thoughts

great news!! W&M is an outstanding school that does not get recognized as much as it should

But... it hasn't shot up. Not sure where you're getting that?

Because you have zero idea what you are talking about.

New school of data analytics
New school of. Arnie Science with a massive endowment
Over half of its grads major in STEM
Now R1

Also, it’s doing a great job staying under the DEI/ Israel-Palestine culture wars radar.

No engineering.

No nuclear program.

Do they have a viable physics program?

Wth?

I have no connection to any of the VA schools, but this is a very strange choice. ODU would be the obvious choice - it's in Norfolk and has an excellent engineering program. This is such a bizarre pairing.

I read the article and it was a bunch of garbled rationalizations for why W&M would be involved. I mean, come on.

To me that screams engineering, but the article itself is non decipherable. Like I said earlier, a bunch of liberal arts mumbo jumbo. So we are talking project management? If so, say so. If we talking advanced r&d, which would definitely require engineering, this article leaves much to be desired.

I wonder if some money changed hands behind the scenes because W&M needed a "boost" to their image. There is no reasonable explanation for this.

Engineering programs. My son had a naval internship and there were tons of Hokies. I can’t imagine why anyone would reconsider their kids application over this news. if your kid wants to build subs, please go to an engineering school.

No one is. That was just a silly W&M booster trying to make fetch happen.

Maybe take an English class. The one reason to go to VT is for Engineering. With this new sub program at W&M the scale may be tipping that way (pending more info on the program).

DP. Hmm. I'll have to tell my humanities kids who are currently at VT and receiving an excellent education that they must have made a mistake.

That's such a dumb conspiracy. The most logical explanation is that there are tons of W&M alums high up in government and the military. Current pres has put a lot of effort into leveraging those connections

Doesn't sound like they "turned it down" - sounds like there was a public outcry that it should be part of ODU. W&M's loss.
