BC - smart and sporty
Miami - sporty and extroverted
Wake - extroverted and smart

Wake is not “smart.” So many kids get in early ED (before ED1) and have VERY average stats. It is a common hack at all local private schools. IYKYK

There is no such thing as early ED at Wake.

It’s rolling but it’s all ED1.

Kids will get a great education and have a great experience at all 3. They are just different.

^Same can be said for an additional 100 schools but those 3 are bottom half.

Why are you still n this thread? Go back to the anti private college thread you started.

These schools have vastly different social scenes. I would pick what is the best fit for your child.

For our child and family, we would pick BC.

I know Miami is hot right now.

Most of Florida is not SEC country. Tampa, Miami, and Orlando are not, at all. Correct that those front office roles in Boston are filled by Harvard and MIT and (to a lesser extent) good NESCAC schools. BC BU and NEU beg for scraps.

BC's heyday was around 2008-2015. Its best days are behind it with no meaningful long-term plan to improve the school. Miami on the other hand....

For those poohpoohing UMiami, have you looked at the school and its pull lately? Or are you thinking about its reputation from 20 years ago? Every major bank and investment company is setting up a corporate office in the area, if they aren’t there already. It’s a city on the rise— so if you want to end up in that part of the country, the. It’s the way to go. I mean even Vandy is putting a campus in the general area…It’s a GREAT school that helps leverages its global connections as a gateway to Latin America.

What in the world are you smoking?

I think it's pretty clear that BC is at least a step above Villanova. I don't know anybody other than Richmond parents who think that Wake Forest is a pair of Richmond.

Wake Forest is definitely not the best school in the state, but it is certainly on par with Carolina and Davidson.

Boston College is, as someone else pointed out, the toughest admit out of these three.

Everyone is welcome to an opinion, but this is a particularly poorly informed one.

What are you talking about? All of the acceptance rates are 15-20%

BC class of 2029 was 12.6%.

And Miami is 15-18%, basically the same. You do realize that minor differences in acceptance rates are meaningless?

No, it is not 15%. And, do you realize that 18% is 50% higher than 12%? That is not a “meaningless” difference to the 100 or more kids who get into Miami — and not BC. When DC is crying over a BC rejection, just tell them their feelings are meaningless.

You people are ridiculous…such an appreciation for acceptance rate…..in that case Northeastern is better than all you guys….and forget Oxford….what a piece of crap with their high teens acceptance rate….

Miami is hot but don’t think they will ever be confused with HYP, Duke, or Stanford.

Apparently it’s sort of like double secret probation—only some people know about it.

NP. Wake releases ED results on a rolling basis for many of the ED apps that are submitted early, even before the ED1 deadline. Presumably that is what the other poster was referring to. It isn't a different round, but for those admitted so early, a nice way to avoid submitting other early apps.

No, you just don’t understand how rolling notification during ed1 works. That’s ok.
