First question is money. Do you have a ton? If so it changes the answer. If 90k a year is nothing to you either because it is saved already or you are rich or high income then BC is the answer hands down. On the other hand if the above is not accurate go instate to W&M. CWU would lose in either case unless your kid loved it and you can afford it.

Whoever said BC is a B+ school is nuts. Have you looked at stats?

only 28% bother to submit an SAT, my brother. They take 2/3rds of their class from early decision. They're not getting the best and brightest

Aww, this brother has trouble with fractions. For BC, 3/4 submitted test scores snd averaged over 1500.

You mean 28% a little over 1/4?

Facts. BC is ranked #37. 75% submitted test scores for the class of 2029. Average SAT was over 1500. Yes, it's expensive, especially compared to a state school. Case Western reports a COA at $92,130.

How would you even know about test scores for class of 29? That data hasn't yet been shared. The last CDS shared was for the class of 27, and that data showed 44% submitted test scores. 75% is an enormous number. Even Notre Dame is less than that.

Is your google broken?

Help me out then. If you have a link, share it. You can't because it doesn't exist.

literally came up in the first google search. you can do it!

It doesn't exist. You just proved it. Plus, no school anywhere has shared 2025-2026 CDS (which would be class of 29) yet.

haha you think only CDS has this data. so sad!

CDS would be the only legitimate source for this data. If you are getting it elsewhere, it is flawed. No way 75% submitted test scores. There is only one place you could have pulled that data and it is not from google but from part of your body I will not decline naming.

I found your flawed data. The class of 29 data is only "admitted" students. The 75% is a bloated number and it will shrink when they look at "enrolled" students, which is the only legitimate data point to compare with other schools. Nice try!! It will be at most 50% if there is any improvement from two years ago (class of 27), which is the latest legitimate data on enrollment out there right now. Of course the school can admit as many students they want who submitted test scores.

Actually we love BC. My daughter will apply for next year, but not ED. That's because she prefers ND and hopes to get in there. She will submit her test scores! I just don't like seeing inflated information being shared to mislead people. Someone may look at your flawed data and think BC is better than ND because more submitted test scores, but sadly it looks like BC is throwing numbers around that don't really matter.

For in-state, W&M is the obvious choice. Case location is not a plus and BC is definitely not worth $400+k over 4 years.

Notre Dame is a fantastic school best of luck.

Anonymous wrote:BC games the system to make itself look more exclusive but it doesn't work. It is the tried and true formula...accept 2/3rds of your applicants by early decision. Those yield 100% obviously. The other 1/3rd are then picked from the vast majority of regular decision applicants, artificially lowering the acceptance rate.

There are very few colleges that take as many applicants early decision as does Boston College.

As for the comparison to Notre Dame and Georgetown...get real, that's a joke. BC is the safety for ND and Georgetown.

You're the only one trying to fake compare BC with ND & GU - you've done it on this thread alone at least 4 times. Give us a break.

oh, make that at least 5 posts that you've made to "defend" ND and GU against NO ONE's claim that BC is higher ranked or more prestigious.

My information is actually accurate while yours seeks to mislead and confuse. People, please don't let college website numbers confuse you. If you want to know for sure, look at the common data set, which is data supplied by all institutions for the sake of accuracy and fair comparisons. The 75% number is a gross misrepresentation because they are using admitted students, not enrolled students. Enrolled students is the only numbers that matter.

Original BC hater here. Glad my facts and statistics have become mainstream on DCUM and others can take up the mantel. Go to W&M and enjoy Greek life.

Especially in a major where it gets its clock cleaned by 4 other colleges within 10 miles of it. It would be insane to spend $90k there versus W&M.
