I bet you don’t follow hockey. Massachusetts produces the second most pro hockey players after Minnesota and most hockey students go to BC, BU, and Northeastern.

BC is very special if you plan on staying in Boston. If you’re staying in the Virginia area maybe W&M might be better. Definitely better name recognition in the Virginia area.

If these things matter to you William and Mary admit twice as many students as BC does.

William and Mary is more isolate. You miss out in the cultural events that come to Cambridge and Boston. Relevant speakers at all the colleges that you might like to go to.

I think it comes down to the lifestyle that best suits the student. Both schools are more than capable of giving you a top education.

Quick history lesion for the BC boosters, W&M was founded in 1693 second oldest college in US after that little school near you named Harvard. Thus it has fantastic name recognition unlike Boston College. As many other posters have mentioned BC history is very humble. As a peer BC is comparable to BU, Nottheastern, Syracuse, and Villanova. For sports its men’s and women’s basketball programs are extremely bad, Olympic sports terrible and football on a good year goes to a third rate bowl. W&M is a better school for a fraction of the cost.

BC and CW are just not worth the additional expense. I don’t care how much money you have.

BC boosters were very critical of W&M calling it a tier2 school, saying it is isolated and down playing its name recognition. Reading comprehension is a good attribute. Also BC fans continue to demean schools that are objectively better than BC-such as Wash U, UVA, Georgetown, etc.

I wonder the same thing...what a bizarre comment. A lot of schools not safe for Jewish schools, but BC (or any other Catholic school) is not one of them.
