+1 Yes, lots of skin showing in the college classroom nowadays. |
unprofessional |
This. My daughter had a few classmates who pushed the limits this way, most didn’t. My daughter did not and we had a lot of conversations about what is appropriate for what situation/ what age and how girls are being sexualized. See it as opportunity for lots of discussion. You built the clothes, I assume she doesn’t have a job… And my kids have learned that I don’t care what “everyone” else is doing if it goes against our values or philosophy of parenting/life. It is very sad that the media and many clothing companies buy into the sexualized tween/teen. Gross and damaging for the girls. |
I don’t think a lot of middle school or 6th grade girls even realize the sexual component and what kind of attention they look like they are seeking. They see these images of women looking this way and emulate them without the maturity or life experience and context behind it. Then they are grossed out and shocked that a disgusting grown man catcalls them when walking in public. |
Students aren't professionals, they are customers to the college. The professors are the professionals who are paid. |
Midriffs are super-popular in 6th and even more so in MS. The girls like them because they really draw the boys’ attention. |
college students should also look more professional than backs, shoulders, midriffs, and bum cheeks hanging out |
Actually, it's better for flyers to have bare legs so that their bases can have a better grip. Leggings can get slippery. Overall, it's for greater freedom and flexibility- same reason why gymnasts wear leotards. And, no, they're undies are not showing. What you're seeing are shorts. I'm a cheer mom of an all-star cheerleader. |
Tell her no and don't buy such things. You have complete control over her wardrobe at this point, I don't see how this is an issue if you aren't buying this garbage. |
DP but the boy moms can suck it. Especially considering they refuse to make their boys wear deodorant. My daughter literally asked to move seats because one of the 6th grade slobs smelled so nasty. |
OP didn't say anything about butt cheeks. |
100% I was wearing babydoll shirts and baggy jeans in high school VERY similar to what my 12 year old wears now. |
(I was in high school in the early 90s!) |
Lady, my 11 year old has sensory issues and will literally only wear fitted clothing that hugs her body. Trust me when I tell you she is not doing it for the "sexual attention", she is doing it because it's what she is comfortable in. You sound like a misogynistic freak. I feel for your children. Better watch what your daughter is wearing underneath her baggy clothes when she leaves the house. |
This has generally been my take on this stuff too. I'll buy her whatever she wants to wear on weekends, but I do want her to wear comfortable, practical clothing to school. |
