I just went to that website, and it looks like Aspen Hill is pretty safe. But we all need to avoid Arlington and Alexandria -- yikes!

A real dump with beggars.

I go to that Panera several times a week as I work nearby. I’ve never seen a beggar. I’ve worked there for 5 years.

I go there once a while in the morning and always see a policeman in there. Maybe he chases the beggars away. The shopping center hires another policeman that sits in the parking lot. All the stores have his cell number. I talked to him one day and he said the stores always get loited and the shopping center owners hired him.

Now where the Michaels store is that shopping center has beggars and scammers preying on people. All my neighbors been hit on.

The Safeway by Norbeck and Wood M.S also has this issue now. There was always a cop there about once a week but now they’ve had heavy caution around that place after COVID and lockdown. The last time we went to that Safeway we were notified about an armed robbery that happened inside just minutes before it was going to close.

If by "heavy caution," you mean the one security guard that directs people trying to park at CVS, then yes. Otherwise, you are just a troll.

I don’t think you can call this a troll..underestimating is kinda a thing.

Almost $1M? That is insane.

And wasn’t Arlington rated the “safest community in America” last year? It was on all the local blogs and hyperlocal news sites. If Aspen Hill is safer than Arlington, then it is likely one of the safest communities in the U.S.

This kind of stuff does not happen in Ashburn and other areas in VA that are as far, time wise, from the Downtown DC core. There is a reason why far out MoCo is half the price of far out Fairfax and Loudoun County. It’s because it’s mostly low rent, depressing, hood suburbs.

This kind of stuff also does not happen at that Safeway. That poster has been lying up and down the board. The only people loitering at Safeway are the teenagers from Wood/Rockville High.

LOL, evidently you haven't heard of Hoodbridge. Nor have you heard of South Arlington. The equivalent of Ashburn isn't Aspen Hill -- it would be Columbia or Clarksburg.

Homes in South Arlington go for twice what they go for in Aspen Hill. And Woodbridge is much safer than the worst parts of PG County.

You can like suburban MoCo better, but numbers don’t lie. Real estate prices are much more expensive in suburban VA than suburban MD for a few reasons, primarily business growth and crime. This is a $1.1M home in Falls Church now:

Aspen Hill house in 1981: $87,000
Now: $650,000 with newer kitchen and baths

Falls Church house in 1983: $105,000
Now: $950,000 and being sold as a tear down

I could give more examples for days. Maryland just isn’t keeping up. Rent in Aspen Hill but don’t put a down payment on a home in a neighborhood that is only getting worse and has no growth prospects for the future.

+1

It's actually mind-boggling. I looked at a map of one here (this is Rockville, not Aspen Hill because Aspen Hill only shows like 2 registered SO's). Take this into account that most of these SO's are by Wheaton Woods ES.

Why does the NoVA troll keep comparing different areas? First we're comparing Aspen Hill to Ashburn, then to Falls Church. Then we're suddenly comparing Hoodbridge to PG County?

Let's focus here. Aspen Hill is similar to Hoodbridge. Compare prices between those two areas if you'd like.

Ashburn is comparable to Clarksburg or Columbia. Compare prices between those areas if you'd like.

Falls Church is comparable to maybe North Bethesda. Compare prices between those two areas if you'd like.

Preferably, just leave this thread, NoVA troll, because you're distracting and keep spreading misinformation.

I’m comparing the price appreciation in NoVa to MoCo in general. $75,000 to $80,000 would buy you an almost identical house in Aspen Hill as in Arlington, Falls Church, or McLean in 1980. The same house in Aspen Hill would be worth 1/3 to 1/2 of what those homes in VA would be worth now. The reason is is that Aspen Hill has been going down the tubes for a long time. The moral of the story is that Aspen Hill is a terrible place to live, is in a depressing downward slide, and is a terrible real estate investment.
