Where are Traditional Conservatives?

While I find Trump’s blunt, NYC-style of talk rather distasteful, and no one admires his family history of infidelity and divorce, his policies are the opposite of what you progressives have put in place over the THREE (3) terms of President Obama.

And let’s stop pretending it was demented Biden directing the country; Obama ran things from behind the curtain.

You cheered on the invasion of our country, demonized our police, and rammed through a truly weird transgender agenda in our public schools, which even my gay friends find really weird.

BTW - I do agree with you progressives in favor war in Ukraine until victory; I want to see Putin’s evil-empire 2.0 completely collapse because I have family in Europe, and I know there will never be peace or real security in Europe until the Putin / puppet Medvedev regime collapses. Putin can’t be trusted.

Well said, I too am a traditional conservative who is very happy with Trump so far. He is doing exactly what he promised. Securing the border, enforcing immigration laws, getting rid of divisive DEI policies, bringing accountability and business-like approach to government, restoring respect for the police. I found his speech on Tuesday informative, honest, funny at times, and made me proud to be an American. I can't even imagine how depressing a SOTU with Kamala babbling and cackling for an hour but saying nothing would be. DCUM runs about 90% left wing, so it leaves a misleading impression that the whole country is appalled by Trump. Fortunately, most Americans are getting what they voted for and are happy about that.

America died because a woman laughed.

A woman of color at that. How dare she.

Thanks peeps for defending me. I am newly unemployed. Must go now! It’s been fun hanging out.

It's not visible because it is not true. Just liars in the media claiming it. All these Republicans are just itching to tell these liberals how much they hate Trump.

Why do you think Kamala lost?

Thank you for this question, OP. A lot of my family (dad and two brothers) are pretty conservative, often vote Republican, but absolutely never Trump. I, too, want to understand what the small government, fiscally conservative, educated individuals who voted for Trump are thinking.

Question for everyone who hates Trump, which is most of the posters on DCUM.

Other than opposing Trump, what is your agenda for the country?

To be clear, a man who stood in front of the world and repeated a fake, made up story about Haitians eating dogs and cats is not "distasteful," he is racist.

A man who hired a comedian to tell racist jokes such as references to carving a watermelon with a Black person at his political rally is not "distasteful." He is racist.

You hiding behind DEI to excuse voting for a man who has literally done these things. That is racism.

Don’t forget the misogyny too! He’s a literal r@pi$t, makes creepy comments about his daughter and sex, and jokes about groping women.

But that isn’t the problem … clearly diversity, equity, and inclusion are what need to go.

transgender agenda in our public schools

There is no transgender agenda. I'm a teacher. I'd just like them to keep their cell phones put away. And, no one cares if someone is transgender, especially not other students. It's the Karen parents that can't handle it.

Do you understand you can only be racist if you have privilege? Do you understand what DEI is?

Stop listening to ill-informed republican talking points.

It's because of the propaganda. The felon claimed kids were coming home a different gender and the gullible cultists believed it. It didn't help that outlets like NBC said he was "repeat[ing] false claims," when they should have said he was blatantly lying.

https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-politics-and-policy/trump-false-claims-schools-transgender-surgeries-rcna170217

It’s wild to me that we even need to state he is lying because it’s so obviously made up. My kids go to school in a liberal N Arlington bubble and the nurse cannot even give them Motrin. But sure … kids are getting bottom surgery in between library and recess. We’re cutting all sorts of school funding but have the money for the “trans agenda.”

Also I read one of the earlier posts in my head as “that gosh darn transgender agender.”

I am sure you have already gotten flamed for this so I am not going to make a snarky remark. Please tell us some of the new information you learned or, at least, please do some fact checking.

And yes, before you ask, I do also fact check Democrats and have seen them exaggerate and manipulate information. But I challenge you to come up with any politician who tells outright fabrications as much as Trump does.

Taxing the wealthy and corporations to better fund programs that help working class/middle class Americans.

Overturning Citizens United.

Streamlined immigration system that offers more protection and dignity than sneaking across the border.

Stronger supports for young families (national paid parental leave, childcare subsidies and/or increasing the dependent FSA amount, more federal investment in public schools, increasing child tax credits, etc.)

Not having a sexual predator in the White House.

Fixing student loans so that people don’t pay more interest than the principal.

Expanded first time homebuyer tax credits/low interest loans.

Gun reform (e.g. taxes and limitations on ammo, strict liability for parents who don’t lock up their guns, waiting periods and background checks across all states).

Expanded access to mental health treatment including inpatient centers and drug rehabilitation.

Strong relationships with national allies and distancing from ties to Russia. Stop trying to buy Greenland.

And also I do agree with some conservative values. I’d love to see stricter enforcement of criminal laws, especially very harsh consequences for gun crimes and DUI. I’m also 100% for anything that will help limit fentanyl coming across our borders.

Do you really need it spelled out?

Robust public health system to address the realities of global travel and attendant spread of disease, including programs at the epicenters of outbreaks
Health care access for all Americans in order to assist those who are (1) young, old, or not able to participate in the work force due to mental and physical challenges AND/OR (2) work at jobs where they do not receive health care insurance
Functioning Social Security for our senior workers as well as for those who mental/physical limitations keeping them at home and not at work
Inclusive public education system ensuring that all students are able to participate in the classroom most appropriate for them
Strong soft power international aid program
Equitable tax system for our lowest paid earners as well as those as the highest rungs

That's six.

Traditional conservatives are happy to see the border secured, and happy to see spending being cut.
US Debt Clock site lists $175 billion saved, and the deficit number is essentially flat.

And I meant to add: you created a multi-billion dollar DEI or DEIA “industry.” The fact is:

DEI = racism. I cannot and will not support racism; will you?

DEI means I have an equal chance at landing the same job for the same pay as my male counterparts.

Do you trust Bloomberg news?

- 94% of jobs recently given EXCLUSIVELY to BIPOC Americans.

Does 94% given to ONE group sound like there was (as you put it) an “equal chance” in hiring? Read it yourself:

https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2023-black-lives-matter-equal-opportunity-corporate-diversity/#:~:text=While%20the%20biggest%20shifts%20in,went%20to%20workers%20of%20color.

Yeah, so why don’t you provider the full detail? Most of these jobs for BIPOC hires were lower paying, entry level. The managerial hires were still a majority white. Moreover, white people still dominate higher paying / executive jobs.

Don’t worry, white people still have the advantage.

Not to mention that, when you are acknowledging and trying to recitfy a past injustice (not hiring people of color), well, yes the new hires are obviously going to be people of color. That was the point.

Let’s talk about your #1 priority, taxing the wealthy. If a family earns $1 million in ordinary income in a year, what do you think is the fair share they should pay in taxes?

I just want a government that tells the truth and doesn't break the law. I'm also very anti-monarchy and pro-Nato.

Policy differences I can handle. Wannabe kings I cannot.

I don't even know what to say when someone says Trump'a speech was honest. Transgender mice is honest?
