| I keep reading that traditional conservatives are appalled by this administration, but I'm not seeing any of them make statements or take any action. Has anyone seen this? I sincerely hope it is happening and wish it was more visible. |
| Traditional conservatives are just slightly left of center Democrats. |
| Traditional anti-war Democrats are now MAGA. |

I am a traditional, pro-family values, pro-America, church-going conservative.
While I find Trump’s blunt, NYC-style of talk rather distasteful, and no one admires his family history of infidelity and divorce, his policies are the opposite of what you progressives have put in place over the THREE (3) terms of President Obama. And let’s stop pretending it was demented Biden directing the country; Obama ran things from behind the curtain. You cheered on the invasion of our country, demonized our police, and rammed through a truly weird transgender agenda in our public schools, which even my gay friends find really weird. BTW - I do agree with you progressives in favor war in Ukraine until victory; I want to see Putin’s evil-empire 2.0 completely collapse because I have family in Europe, and I know there will never be peace or real security in Europe until the Putin / puppet Medvedev regime collapses. Putin can’t be trusted. |
And I meant to add: you created a multi-billion dollar DEI or DEIA “industry.” The fact is: DEI = racism. I cannot and will not support racism; will you? |
You are a conspiracy theorist. Not sure that counts as a 'traditional conservative.' l |
| They were clapping and hootin along with the other Republicans during Trump's address to Congress. |
| Traditional conservatives are hiding in shame or in the Lincoln Project. MAGA QAnon is calling themselves "traditional conservative" like they call themselves "Christian" while spitting on every Christian value. |
Are you a white woman? White women were the biggest benefactors of DEI. You may want to Google that and rethink your position. Also, the vast majority of Trump voters support Ukraine. |
|
The real conservatives are the WSJ, who despite endorsing the felon, are becoming more and more outraged. They despise Vance.
Others old-guard conservatives are The Lincoln Project guys, Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, and none of them support this administration. |
DEI is there to counter racism. wow, you really live in a different world. |
| My parents are and my close friend is. They stopped voting for republicans in 2008 but still call themselves republicans out of habit. They loved McCain and Romney but did not like their VP picks and were concerned about what those choices represented for the party writ large. |
What about the Capitol riots in 2020? How were the police demonized? And what did the federal government do that imposed a "weird transgender agenda" on public schools, as the federal government has no control over local school curricula? These are serious questions, and I say this as one who is more of a libertarian than a "traditional conservative" (I'm more-or-less the latter, but wish that government would get out of social issues entirely), but certainly not liberal in my political leanings. |
Same for my in-laws. They call themselves "small-c conservatives." They attend church and are pro marriage and military. Always stand for the Pledge and National Anthem, even in their living room. They're also in favor of universal healthcare, staying out of people's personal business, and think that power confers responsibility. Above all, they hate amoral and stupid people and think they shouldn't be in charge. They exist. I think they're just as befuddled as the rest of us. |

My husband is. He left the Republican Party in 2016. He’s politically homeless. He can see that there’s nothing conservative about the current Republican Party, and finds a lot of the politicians ignorant and morally repugnant.
He is not opposed to DEI, knows all the “trans” fear-mongering is BS, and is strongly pro-choice. He has zero interest in or patience for the made up culture wars. |
