Tuckahoe Boots Machine

Um. Mach parents were informed last week. Maybe the email only went to families with swimmers at Tuckahoe.

Direct your outrage elsewhere.

Not the PP. Mach email last week concerned the RFP and trying to find alternate sites. Sounds like everyone, including Mach, found out the outcome RFP yesterday. I’d cut Mach some slack on the lack of comms. They are hosting senior/junior/age group qualifier meet this weekend and probably a good portion of Mach’s bandwidth is taken up by that meet. (I’m a Mach parent)

I hope Machine finds an awesome new location and that this decision blows up in the Tuckahoe’s Boards face.

T is not a nice person and it interesting how much power and control Tuckahoe is giving them

Also, if the Tuckahoe board members are happy and satisfied with this plan that should be enough. Why not give it a try. My understanding is they have a long five year waiting list for membership so this is not going to just feed Tuckahoe NVSL summer swimming with new swimmers, that’s nonsense.

Good for T! I think it’s great to have another swim option for the DMV. You can choose to have your kids swim with him or not.

Entering room: Another Tuckahoe Board member trying to justify their fuzzy math and sham RFP for the financial risk they just took on behalf of the club members

Did the entire board not have to vote on this? That would be shocking.

Seems like communication could be an issue.

Has Torey even formally informed York he is leaving?

I understand that Machine just found out yesterday. Why would Paris and her team not have two emails drafted and ready since they have been involved in this process for at least a couple weeks? Seems like a basic business practice. They knew there were only two possible outcomes.

1. Great news, Tuckahoe has accepted our RFP and we are going to continue operating at the same pool, with the same hours, etc

2. Unfortunately our contract was not renewed. We will continue to search for pool space and will keep you updated as the process progresses. We value you and your swimmers, please reach out with questions.

Then even though there is a meet this weekend the email could have been sent and they could have stayed in front of the train.

She was called by the Tuckahoe board a few years back asking for her recommendation for a head coach at Tuckahoe but she refused to respond or call back. She had the chance to place a Machine coach there (or at least keep a good relationship with the board) but she refused.

Paris spent years acting as if the contract and pool location was something she deserved and they could never change. Sometimes you need to look in the mirror on what you could have done better.

And for what it’s worth Machine got its start at York recruiting kids from the practice Dan was coaching in Herndon (while drawing a paycheck from York). All’s fair in pools and swim coaching. For any haters out there - point out the lie in anything I have said….Ill wait

So if this is true and the board doesn’t like Paris why didn’t they previously solicit RFPs? If they were financially savvy they would have realized they have pool in a desirable location and could auction space to the high bidder and receive money for capital improvements years ago. Doesn’t seem like they are all that financially responsible.

This is no different than when Sea Devils lost their swim time at Madeira to Machine when Machine was a relatively new club. The outrage here is hilariously myopic.

I don’t think there is outrage over Machine losing the contract. I think people find it “interesting” that they lost the contract to a start up Club led by their summer swim head coach…who is also their pool manager…and their winter swim coach…and their….

They need to rename Tuckahoe Swim Club…Torey Swim Club because he now basically has full control of EVERYTHING

Idk. I can understand sea devils parents being annoyed/pissed and I can understand machine parents feeling similarly. It kind of sucks for those negatively affected.

Yeah, I see your point but not sure you can hold this board responsible for decisions made over the last 20 years. At our pool, we have significant turnover every few years. Reading through this thread, I don’t see any wrongdoing honestly. Neither Machine nor Tuckahoe did anything wrong or negligent and I imagine Machine will find another site within a few miles to accommmodsye their swimmers. 6 months seems plenty of time to figure it out.

Haha, ladies and gentleman, our kids call this ‘crashing out.’ Trust, they’ll understand.

Huh?

Not “crashing out” just stating a fact that the Tuckahoe Board can try to deny but is obvious to everyone

Even more insane then that over 20 yrs with lots of board members filtering through not one of them thought of trying to get more money/RFPs until now.
