One way is to go to the representative’s website and click on the contact information. It should provide a phone number to call and a form to send an email. If you call, you can say something like: “This is Mary Smith, one of your constituents. I’d like to speak with someone regarding an article I saw in [WaPo, Reuters, wherever] regarding Elon Musk seeking to access the US Treasury’s payment systems. This is concerning to me because …”

Email works too

A lot of them have changed emails and require you to attest you live in their district. Probably because so many progressives wrote in. I did all the time during Trump’s first term. Which is infuriating because they represent people. I think I’m going to start mailing postcards.

Love a Friday news dump. This is terrifying.

Why can’t people inDC call?

Senators and representatives do not take calls from outside their state or district. They will not talk to you if you live in DC.

Not true. I live in DC and I spoke to someone in Senator Kaine's office today.

I called their DC offices. Someone answered at all of them. I simply said "Hi, my name is Name from City. I am calling to express my concern about the reports I've seen regarding Elon Musk gaining access to the US Treasury. This a grave threat to our country's financial system and I am urging Senator/Representative Name to take every necessary step to put an immediate stop to this. Thank you for your time."

He wants to learn how to hack the system to steal taxpayer money after he learned how to hack the voting machines during legal discovery so he could steal the election for himself…to get access to the Treasury.

Yep. Circumvent Congress by just turning off the entire pipe. OR, do it selectively. Make sure GOP pet projects get funded but nothing else -- if only SOME people's SS doesn't come through, if only SOME people's paychecks get held up, if only blue states don't get Medicaid/Medicare dollars, if only SOME government contractors don't get paid (and SpaceX/Tesla will never NOT get paid, remember Elon has huge contracts and certainly also will get $$$ the Biden admin's funding for EV chargers, etc.) ... then enough people can shrug it off as someone else's problem or even take pleasure in "owning the libs," never mind that it's illegal.

Do people really want Musk and DOGE determining if they get their tax return or not? Because that's literally what we're talking about.

Watch, this is Musk attempting to get access to the system so he can have data to "show" how "inefficient" the govt payment systems are. He will then suggest that the entire payment system be privatized and/or suggest the country start using Bitcoin or some other crypto junk all the billionaires have already vested interest in. Musk/Zuckerberg/Bezos probably have some kind of payment system like PayPal setup and want to use it for all govt transactions and banking. They'll get administrative fees per transaction or 1% cut per million dollars. Not too shabby when $6T flows through that every year.

God. This is so so soooko awful. The USA is toast.

District schmistrict
Those of us who live in DC should be allowed to email any member of Congress we want because otherwise we don't have representation.

Honestly, I don’t even think he has to show that, Trumpsters in Congress rolling over for them. It will take a stock market crash, mass deaths, and extreme political violence to rein it in at this point.

Elon does not have the power or the authority to do that. And for that matter neither does the President. Only Congress has the power to stop funding, and for the Executive Branch to stop funding a program is unconstitutional and illegal impoundment.
