"Blew up"? I am sure that went well and helped things and changed their opinion.

People, including your parents are allowed to have their own thoughts.

No one asked you

So, they're talking about government employees being wasteful but then fired all the people who have the ability to investigate waste and fraud? Many of the Trump appointed in the first place.

Continue acting with contempt toward people and see how that goes. Report back to us and let us know.

Yes. It makes complete sense. Anything Trump does = good. Don’t you understand?

What a mess.

The Federal workforce is around one percent of the economy, and firing one percent of them doesn't move the needle at all.

An economist could argue that this will be good for the economy--freeing up skilled workers to work on more productive things in the private sector (see, for example, Argentina).

Where do you think all of these private sector jobs are magically coming from?

Supply tends to create its own demand. If the price of rice were 5 cents a pound I'd buy a lot more of it.

And tax cuts pay for themselves, something something trickle down…

Stop trying to make sense of it all. It's chaos and mayhem.

It's safe to say that many people voted for Trump knowing that it may cost them their job.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but do you remember what you were all saying when Biden shut down coal? You said they need to "upskill". Learn to code, etc. These were coal miners from generations of coal miners, working in horrible conditions, dying of job related cancer, etc, living out in remote places like the hills of West Virginia. And literally no one on the left cared about these people. It's a lot to ask that these people, and the many people who've been beaten up by Biden's policies, suddenly care about well educated, highly paid people. So, take your own advice. If you think you're too niche to work outside the government (which I doubt), then unskill to something marketable. The government workforce tends to come from a lot of privilege-- leverage it. Network. Do not pity yourself and be a victim.

But those jobs were horrible anyway, so it would ultimately benefit them to find jobs that aren't killing them (if the government made more of an effort to support them where they lived, of course).

Remote work provided opportunities for workers to move back to their families in areas with limited work and start families of their own. How are they supposed to find something else in their small town 2+ hours from major cities if remote work ceases to exist?

We’re yet again failing small towns.

People may think that your job is horrible. That feds work in gray, padded, soulless offices and have fake email jobs. That is how people view much of federal work. They think you're getting an opportunity to contribute productively.

I am literally shocked by the blatantly illegal removal of IGs and the tepid response my Congressmembers, including those who have historically supported OIGs.

+100000 the panic is stupid. They are getting paid NOT to work and find another job. I'm sure there will be very decent severance packages too.

They were fired too? I didn’t see that. All these people have civil service protections. These firings are clearly illegal.

IG’s don’t. They can be easily fired. Obama did it.

Oh, was that the same shock you expressed when Obama did the same thing?

Without the legally required 30 days notice?

Let’s bookmark this and see if they actually get severance packages.

What's illegal about firing them? They are presidential appointees?
