As far as DEI just not working in the marketplace, Costco would like a word. Over the last 5 years, Costco stock rose nearly 200%, 37% rise in the last year. Their board strongly recommended that shareholders vote to keep the DEI policies that have helped make Costco the success that it is.

Correlation does not equal causation. The stock of Intellinetix went up 256% over the last 5 years. They make document management software solutions. Did they do well because of DEI, or because they had a good product?

And you know who absolutely loves Costco like it’s a religion? Red states. You couldn’t pry Costco from their cold dead hands.

Tell me you've never been to the Fairfax Costco without telling me you've never been to the Fairfax Costco....

I’ve never been to the Fairfax Costco. I don’t live in Fairfax and…I don’t love Costco. So much stuff in really big quantities.

Exactly. Maybe you’ll save some money now. Protest away. Your husband will thank you.

Er, I spend my own money and I don’t need his permission or input.

The place is an absolute madhouse day in and day out. Doesn't matter when you get there, it's complete chaos inside. I won't shop there anymore and I love Costco. I've been to Costcos all over the US and even outside the US. Nowhere have I ever experienced it as bad as it is in FFX

It’s not about who votes however. It’s about making DEI the boogyman when it really need not be. You just don’t understand DEI and feel threatened by it. After canning DEI in the federal government, they cancelled a book club we have because the books were about women who were historically discriminated against, and how they overcame adversity. The book club was entirely volunteer — you attended on your own time (that is, you did not charge the government) and only if you wanted to attend. It was entirely extracurricular, yet somehow it’s threatening, I guess.

How sad to go through life with no values. And without books or any knowledge of history, apparently.

DP but which values?

I value the workers who work at Target. I value people having access to food and other essentials sold there. I value the (paltry) US-manufactured goods they sell. And the taxes Target pays locally.

I value that Target follows US law with respect to anti-discrimination practices and equality.

I don’t care if Target, a corporation, follows some EO for government agencies.

If you put political party over community, that’s prioritizing your values. It doesn’t mean your values are “better.”

The fact that you think this is about a “political party” tells me you are nowhere near understanding the challenges and misery our country and everyone in it are about to go through. None.

Book club?

If this so-called 'extracurricular' book club was truly off-hours, they wouldn't have cancelled it. My guess is that it was something like a lunch and learn on gov property. If not, make a Facebook page to keep communication and your club open.

errrrr...Wait. Can't use Facebook b/c of your self-imposed 'ban' (so you say).

Or maybe use WhatsApp to coordinate?

Uh oh! Can't use that either!

Ok, I guess the book club is cancelled.

It's likely out of your own undoing, me thinks.

Same as the Fairfax people, I suppose.

You do know that the Fairfax Costco is in southern Fairfax County. It's full of MAGA down there.

So only MAGA shops at Costco now? Wait. I thought DCUM was all for shopping at Costco!!! Look back on the pages of this thread -- which is it, guys? You can't make up your mind!

I would say that it wouldn’t be unreasonable to question whether we understand the challenges that most of our country are already going through in order to want such changes.

This thread is absolutely hilarious. All these dcums up on their high horse, yet so much hypocrisy!

I started a “soft” boycott of Target a couple of years ago when they went off the deep end with their Pride stuff. Nothing against Pride, I am gay. They really went too far and too in your face with the trans stuff and I am just a quiet suburban lesbian who just wants to live a normal life and not be associated with weird stuff.

Now that they have dumped DEI I don’t care, because they are still overpriced for things I actually need, but mostly selling stuff I do not need in the first place and will end up in a landfill not that far in the future.

Clearly they don’t have their own compass, they are just going along with what they perceive to be the popular trend.

I found that I don’t need Target at all. Walmart Plus with In Home delivery pretty much takes care of me and my family and does not tempt me to buy unnecessary items. Our home decore is mostly thrifted or given to us, once in a while will splurge for an high quality made in USA piece of furniture. Our clothes are from places like LL Bean and much better longer lasting than Target.

Nobody needs Target. They will probably pull back on Pride and Black History and API Heritage Month and all of the other months et al merch going forward because it was all virtue signaling they don’t have to do anymore that was probably losing them money.
