https://www.opensecrets.org/ These are the best resources I know for seeing who your dollars spent are supporting. As far as Target, shopping at Costco or shopping local are great alternatives, and reducing consumption is excellent. Thrift and charity shops. Ordering directly from the manufacturer or smaller suppliers. A lot of us got used to 2 day and click and pick up. Well, a lot of the time Prime doesn’t even deliver on that. I find that I spend less overall when I buy in bulk. I put a reminder in my phone to check about quarterly. Factoring the time I spent returning Prime stuff that didn’t work and dealing with the excessive packaging, I don’t think I’m spending more time now than when I relied on Subscribe and Save. As far as DEI just not working in the marketplace, Costco would like a word. Over the last 5 years, Costco stock rose nearly 200%, 37% rise in the last year. Their board strongly recommended that shareholders vote to keep the DEI policies that have helped make Costco the success that it is. We’re going to be told to shut up. We’re going to be told that it doesn’t matter where we shop. We’re going to be told that we’re “just hurting the employees!” with boycotts. They will say anything to keep dollars flowing to red politicians. Don’t listen. Pay attention to Europe and to history. Boycotts and strikes can absolutely bring about change. But buckle up because it will take time. Do what you can and stay tuned for organized boycotts. |
| I agree that the answer is to put less money into consumerism. They don’t want us? Fine. We won’t give them our money. |
| I have never stepped foot in a walmart. Yuck. |
| Costco. Costco is keeping DEI. |

I recently changed my prescriptions from CVS to Walmart. I now go there once a month and I now think Walmart is a-okay for the way they actually serve their customers.
Walmart is about giving you the lowest prices without a lot of fashion or fuss. I've never liked Target and now I understand why. They are set up like Walmart but promote their holiday decor and housewares and clothes in a way to catch your eye. Their stuff can be cute and trendy. So I always am tempted to buy something I don't need or want. Then the next time you go in the look, color and styles of these same things have changed so you are tempted to replace it or buy it this time. I always have a sense of anxiety in that store. It's got built in FOMO. Walmart just has the stuff and it's cheap. It doesn't pretend to be fashionable. It's practical and for everyone. No one called it Tar-zhay and thought it was cool. It has no cool. Plus their pharmacy is the best I've ever used. |
What local grocer???? |

The corporations are virtual signaling in whatever direction the wind blows. Ignore it and, if you’re interested, pay attention to what they actually do instead of what they say.
What did the DEI offices do other than look good for the previous administration? Is Target going to act any differently now? Does any of this make any difference at all? |
| OP, if you are feeling panic about not being able to shop as much at Target, watch Buy Now on Netflix. You don't need all that garbage you are buying. If you've just moved into a house, shop for things at thrift stores and local flea markets. Or ask your parents if they have stuff to give you. My mom could probably furnish a whole house for someone at this point. |
The chain grocery store nearest your house. Take your pick. No need for Target. |
| Many of you are hurt and angry but at the end of the day, we’re going to all continue to shop at target use Amazon, etc. It’s no use to make huge proclamations to simply flip-flop and make excuses later on as to why we’re going back. |
Ok but you made it sound like you’re suggesting some mom and pop grocers. |

He repealed Biden's EO with his EO. EEO is still a law. There is no need to get your panties in a bunch over this, except to virtue signal online with grand gestures of how you say you'll be boycotting every company that takes it away, when you'll be right back at it next week.
Expect more companies to follow. I'm guessing my F10 will be following shortly, as the rumors are swirling. |

Costco. And go straight to the source where possible. But look… late stage capitalism is ALL terrible. I won’t judge if you keep on keeping on. We are all overwhelmed all the time and sometimes we just have to balance by serving our communities rather than these kinds of things.

I was just in Target today. Not sure why anyone would shop in there, they can’t open more than 2 cashier lines on a Saturday. Checked out lines half-way of the store. Plenty of unstocked merchandise.
They need more of a commitment to customer service than to DEI. |
This is so true. Look into the sweatshops where a lot of the products are made and come back here and ask for your medal. |
