The UK is all over it |
I get your point and don’t disagree but all those people, and others like them, chose to be in the positions they are in. They chose careers and fields that brought wealth and fame but also the crazies that come with it. Prince Harry literally had no choice. He had the world’s focus and attention, good and bad, from the day he was born. Regardless of what you or I think about him or his wife or how they are currently living their lives or how they used to live their lives, his history makes him and his children different. |
There have been arrests and convictions. Please stop |

It has to be convincing enough for the British government. And it’s not to get the security they left behind when they quit. There were consequences they failed to understand apparently. |
I disagree. By your logic then the children of the celebrities named above should have protection because they have been in the news from birth, especially the Beckham kids who were targeted by paparazzi relentlessly. They didn't choose it. |
There was no loss of law suit - Harry settled with admission of wrong doing. It is in the British public’s interest for the firm to authorize and provide police protection to Prince Harry’s family when they visit. The royal family is worth billions to British heritage and tourism. The mistreatment of the only person of color in the firm does not reflect well on King Charles III. The majority of Commonwealth countries are dominated by POC the public bullying of Meghan gives the impression of a backwards looking rather than forward looking institution. Also to people saying Britain is boring - Au contraire - we have had many delightful and interesting vacations there. France is lovely also - it is not a competition. Like many people, we have family roots in both the UK and France and we love them both. - Commonwealth citizen |

Harry can’t just buy police protection like a marathon can. |

I still see a difference between being the son of a successful sports player and pop star and the son of a future king with 1000 years of history, protocol & expectations. |
He gave all that up though. When he had the expectations and role as a royal family member, he did have protection. And they were offered some sort of a compromise which they refused when they left. I'm sure it's a very difficult situation, but they decided to leave entirely. |
They have plenty of money now to pay their own security. |
Plus one. The entire British economy is supported by British royal family. British cultural identity depends the history, heritage and culture related to the royal family. The British royal family benefits the UK in many ways, including: Tourism, Trade, Media and arts, Soft power (diplomatic asset and unofficial brand ambassador for the UK), Charitable causes, Heritage sites (The royal family's art collection and residences are important heritage sites), and Foreign investment. The royal family is also a big deal internationally. The British monarch is the head of the Commonwealth, a voluntary association of 56 independent countries/ former colonies. As of 2024, 15 Commonwealth realms also continue to hold the British monarch as their technical head of state (mostly symbolic in reality). Apart from the UK, these countries (the Commonwealth realm) include: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Solomon Islands, Jamaica, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Belize, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Tuvalu. Harry is the son of the British monarch and senior police have confirmed that the security threats against his family are real. Charles looks petty and petulant by withholding security protection from Harry and his family. |
