It’s this. Harry let his rage and short-sightedness lead him to some silly moves. I assume it felt great to him to attack his family so hope it was worth it! He’s out forever. The press will be covering the Wales family obsessively for the next 60 years, you know, while ARO seeks to soft launch, part II.

That’s the thing, he’s out forever, and they basically said nothing about him while he trashed them and painted them as terrible. He’ll never be back in unless there is a mental break down, divorce and huge mea culpa on his part. I agree Meghan was sometimes popular in the media, sometimes unpopular, and treated with racists undertones on occasion, but this came down to money and power. They thought that could walk into billions by slapping Sussex on bed sheets and a chip and Joanna Gaines like line at target, be embraced by the Hollywood elites and just have all the power, money and stardom anyone could want. Now they are huge failures at everything aside from trashing the family, seem to be scrambling for money, are not invited anywhere A list and have been dumped by the celebrity crowd, and have credibly been labeled bullies by vanity fair and grifters with no work ethic by execs all while having to pay a massive mortgage, reportedly 1mm per year for security alone, staff etc. I bet that 3mm and free housing, security, schooling for kids, high profile events, luxury dress and travel etc doesn’t look so bad now.

Gmafb they aren’t supposed to get their hands dirty. The billionaires have people for that

Well then he, as the son of the future king, would have know this and it was extra dumb to slander the family. The general population really does not sympathize with someone complaining about a billionaires life where literally everything had been taken care of and, to the normie who works a 9-5, they are sitting in the lap of stress free luxury.

Yes. I am surprised people don't acknowledge the fact that Harry slammed the monarchy and specific family members (including present King, Queen, future King and Queen) both in interviews and in writing, for profit. There is no coming back from that. None of this was an essential component of them leaving. If anything, had they not done that, there would be more inclination to justify some sort of special status. He himself described his family as "the firm", and he went against the firm. What exactly did he expect to happen?

+1 another thing people leave out is that in addition to accusing his family of racism (which ultimately led to the naming of Charles and Kate as the ones who discussed Archie’s skin tone) she actually threatened his family in a Cut interview where she said “I didn’t sign an NDA.” Why on earth would they want her or her husband back?

They are completely untrustworthy. Of course they wont be welcome back. The bridge was burned.

Harry is Charles son.

I think it is in everyone’s interests to broker a peace between William and Harry and to reconcile.

I believe that Queen Elizabeth II should have let Harry and Meghan become part time royals.

There probably was some unconscious racism going on in addition the infamous rivalry between William and Harry; but the tell all book and documentary was damaging to both sides.

The royal family is a big deal for both the UK and many commonwealth countries. It is in everyone’s interests for both sides to apologize and reach some kind of mediated agreement.

The royal family has been functioning since harry and Meghan left five years ago. Not sure where the evidence is that they need them or that they have suffered a grave hit from the duo’s allegations. Especially now that US media is echoing the Meghan bullying claims. That only bolsters the firm’s position.

I think the issue is that Harry is unhappy in California and despite calling his move to the US “freedom,” is miserable. US media is now calling him a fool and writing about his idea to interview Putin and trump about why they are sociopaths. I think his legitimate hate for the media and palace officials blinded him to the fact that by pushing the “Harry is a part boy” image, they were protecting him from a public image that is even more damning: he is dumb.

There is a big difference between functioning and flourishing. Their popularity has dropped and their impact on tourism while still enormous has dropped considerably.

The popularity of the British royal family has declined since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's announcement to leave Britain in 2020. The couple's popularity has plummeted, and their negative press coverage has contributed to the decline in support for the monarchy.

In addition to the revelations made in Prince Harry's memoir, Spare; Prince Andrew’s association with Epstein and the sexual assault of minor allegations that were settled out of court also hurt the monarchy,

The future of the monarchy depends on King Charles's ability to persuade Britons of the institution's value.

Part of that value is adapting to modern society which is much less white than it was.

The public seeing Charles able to rebuild a relationship with his youngest son and his family will help More than hurt.

Harry was very popular in many of the charities he represented. It was foolish of the firm to not let him continue part time and to cut off all his funding and security protection.

I believe that king Charles III should seek professional mediation and commit to healing the wounds. There is fault to be found on both sides. It is in everyone’s interest to seek reconciliation.

Hardliners who advocated shutting them out of the firm when they sought to be part time royals probably thought they were defending the royal institution while I believe they harmed it by not adapting to modern realities.
Further, many commonwealth countries are predominantly POC and reconciliation with Meghan would be welcomed by many of them.

Most of all Charles should seek reconciliation so he can have regular contact with his grandchildren as well as son.

Nice fantasy but the damage is done. This wasn't a minor disagreement they went scorched earth with the book and Oprah shows. That's not family you can trust in the family business and they aren't just going to turn over the Commonwealth to Meghan. She knows next to nothing about diplomacy and can't get along with her family.

You don’t seem to understand that royal authority is symbolic and their legitimacy requires a lot of good will and faith in their value to society.

It would not be a matter of handing over the keys to the kingdom to Meghan but finding common ground and unity in a polarized world. Being unifiers while rooted in culture and history would have enormous value to society.

This might have happened in time, if Meghan and Harry stayed. But they didn't, they opted out.

They were chased out

They were given tours of various Pacific and African country. That last tour was right before the exited. So how were they chased out? They had public functions and duties.

As Meghan said, they disrespected her unborn child. She doesn’t put up with nonsense like that from her own family nevertheless some new family. Money or not. And I love her for that.

Normal family members people talk about what unborn babies look like. But Meghan had no idea what a normal family did so she freaked out and cut off her nose to spite her face.

Does it? Because there seems to be a lot of buyer's remorse in here about people wondering why Charles can't fix it and make it better, or can't they still be visiting the Commonwealth? They seem to be pretty mad that the Royal Family was like "See ya!"

I understand it perfectly well. But, here we are. The palace doesn't agree with you. And Brits aren't exactly crying their eyes out hoping for Meghan's return. She's an American, not one of them.

It’s about restoring Harry and unifying the royal family rather than primarily about Meghan.

The British monarch is technically head of state for 15 countries in the Commonwealth realm and Charles is the head of the Chirch of England / worldwide Anglican communion .

Further, King Charles III is the head of the Church of England and the worldwide Anglican Communion that includes the US Episcopal church. He is the supreme governor of the Church of England.

King Charles has both a familial and religious duty to seek reconciliation with his younger son. It will benefit public perception of the royal family if King Charles mends fences with Meghan. UK is extremely multicultural and the broader commonwealth is even more so.

There was wrong doing on both sides and I hope King Charles will seek professional mediation and reconciliation. It would represent a win win.

Wrongdoing on Harrys side. Hes an immature untrustworthy person. Charles may love him as a son but Harry crossed lines that you can't uncross. And sorry, I dont buy the story that the palace fed the royal rota a bunch of lies because they were jealous. Jealous of what? That story sounds like something Megan would make up.

Palace has been exposed already.
Harry’s lawsuit: the defense was that the information came from the palace.

I think it was all bad timing. Andrew became a scandal. The press was going to write about some royal. Every article about Harry was not an article about Andrew.

I can see clearly what is going on. The tabloids continue to tear apart Harry and still write rumours about rumors.
Harry always was more popular than plain vanilla William. Women no longer identify with someone who never worked and just married rich.

Meghan was a successful actress, accomplished and confident in front of the press.
You are not allowed outshine your master. The royals learned a painful lesson with Diana.
And, by the way, Harry is accomplished. The invictus games and series were a success.
William is just cutting ribbons.
