Disappointed they reversed. The could have modified by saying two hours late, childcare on time.

The explanation is that administrators and central office staff wanted a two hour delay themselves.

These people all need to be fired. Right now.

Didn't he already make those people reapply for their positions? Are there even any staff st CO these days? Many can still work from home.

Should they probably have said "We anticipate a delay will be needed on Thursday but will assess and confirm Wednesday afternoon"? Yes. But generally speaking I'm good with how things were handled.

No, it was absurd to delay today and even more absurd to delay tomorrow in the first place. Preventing childcare providers from opening on time was beyond the pale. I have zero sympathy.

When conditions are really bad, the county government closes except for essential workers in order to keep as many cars off the road as possible. When they just need extra time they do a delay and then liberal leave in case some employees can't make it in. When conditions are not that bad but are worried some people might have trouble getting in, they just offer liberal leave. The county did NONE of that this week because the roads have been completely fine since Monday. It is appalling to look around and see NOTHING else delayed or closing and then for MCPS administrators to give themselves 2 hours off every morning for 3 days. Come on. This is disgusting. They walked it back because they realized how bad they looked. But it's too late. They inconvenienced a ton of people who they've made to run around like chickens with our heads cut off cancelling and uncancelling appointments. MCPS clearly run by people with utter disdain for the communities they serve.

He's only cutting 80 positions. There is a lot more BS to cut.

This makes no sense as you take one calculus class at time.

Not absurd when HS kids have to walk up to two miles in the dark and its freezing and icy and not everywhere has sidewalks and that doesn't include major roads. And, many don't bring jackets as they don't get lockers and its a hassle with heavy backpacks to carry them all day. Not all parents can drive.

The problem with this decision is that in the future people may wonder if they will reverse course again. I have never seen them change a delay to an open on time until today. Will they in the future change an already announced closure to a delay or open on time?

That's an absurd reason to delay the offices opening.

No, its not as kids are having to leave to walk to school at 6:30 in the dark.

Two calc classes make no sense. And, if you have to retake a class you shouldn't be moving on to Calc.

MCPS can and in the past has opened offices on time, so that childcare providers can operate, while still delaying school start times. Unfortunately, these days MCPS administrators are entitled and lazy and want to work as little as humanly possible. There is probably one of them ot there jerking off to the idea of parents lives being turned upsidedown all week so he can sleep in.
