And one doesn't even need to go to another country to experience this..all this is happening and has happened in the great US of A!

Which uses more water: hand washing dishes or running dishwasher (not today, but will need to tomorrow)?

Hand washing uses more water for an equivalently full dishwasher.

Instead of 20 minute shower; take a 10 minute.

If it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down.

Delay laundry for a few days if you can.

All the stuff we lower income folks did/do.

It's no longer a lower income issue and really hasn't been for a long time, tho if you are on this site, you will think you are lower income when you see some of these posters. People are in for a very uncomfortable reality if they don't try to conserve and wake the F up to what's going on and has been going on!

I grew up poor to the point electric and water got shut off. Once, water was off for months. So the past tense applies to me. I added "are" lower income because I'm not going to assume everyone here is upper income. I am now and my habits have changed from 30 years ago. No doubt. My assumption is some people have never lived this way. My children included.

What say you DCUM?

Navy shower! Try it every time you shower.
Take a bath occasionally for relaxation etc.

What is a Navy shower? Is it similar to a whore's bath?

Get wet, turn of the water. Rub the shampoo in, slather on the soap or body wash, turn on the water and rinse it off.

Please, let's try to conserve today.

Did they close schools in DC when DC had boil water advisories? Does a boil weather advisory always mean closing schools?

If they keep schools open and point is to conserve water, do the female students and staff who may be menstruating flush after they use the toilet? It probably doesn't say don't wash hands in this conservation effort. Not having access to soap at facilities is another topic, one that this moderator decided to delete a thread. It is true that there is not always soap in public facility bathrooms.

Good point

+1.

Furthermore, the water is needed right now to fight these terrible fires.

I don’t think our water is fighting CA fires?

Exactly!

I’d be frantically doing all the laundry and dishes and showering to prepare for the worst.

You are why we can't have nice things. Just follow directions and conserve water.

I have a very high pressure high flow shower head and a medium pressure / lower flow shower head.

I automatically take shorter showers in the high pressure shower head. It's just not pleasant to hang out in there. The lower pressure / flow shower head feels pleasant and doesn't feel totally rinsed.

WSSC should set congestion pricing. That's what makes people pay attention.

Better make some toast in there before you lose electrical power in the Nor'easter!

That's why it's called silver spring.

Well, I'm a really bad person because I woke up and showered, tossed a load of laundry in, and started the dishwasher before learning about the water restrictions.

Most other people are doing this too.

In my mind, just try to take a shorter shower. Make sure the washing machine and dish washers are full before running. No one is telling you stop washing your hands!
