Did you bother to look at the advisory? It specifically says take SHORT showers. But by all means wait until you have to boil water and broken pipes risk fire response. I mean what ar the odds it’s YOUR house. It’s not like you’re part of a community, right? All that matters is your individual comfort Following guidelines to avert damage and crises is not freaking out. It’s the sensible, responsible thing to do.

Did you bother asking what that "usual length" is? Moron. There are people out there who understand the meaning of resources, have lived through similar situations and can take "short" showers, whatever "short" is. This forum's UMs should try getting out of their screens and websites once in a while.

Yes, it’s definitely dumb not to assume that someone taking their usual shower is actually taking a very short shower because they have lived thru past water shortages.

What is with the aggression on this thread today?

Don't take it personally. The "moron" poster is an abusive ahole. Aggression is the m.o. and "moron" is their word of the day. Every day. Again, that particular pp is an a hole.

Which uses more water: hand washing dishes or running dishwasher (not today, but will need to tomorrow)?

Hand washing uses more water for an equivalently full dishwasher.

Instead of 20 minute shower; take a 10 minute.

If it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down.

Delay laundry for a few days if you can.

All the stuff we lower income folks did/do.

It's no longer a lower income issue and really hasn't been for a long time, tho if you are on this site, you will think you are lower income when you see some of these posters. People are in for a very uncomfortable reality if they don't try to conserve and wake the F up to what's going on and has been going on!

I grew up poor to the point electric and water got shut off. Once, water was off for months. So the past tense applies to me. I added "are" lower income because I'm not going to assume everyone here is upper income. I am now and my habits have changed from 30 years ago. No doubt. My assumption is some people have never lived this way. My children included.

Congrats on making it out of lower income!!!

It sure is up there.

That's why it's called silver spring.

Do they know what the problem is and how to fix the issues? Are they waiting on parts? Just trying to understand how things get done or don't. The downtown Bethesda water break flood was last Mon morning into early Tues last week so took over 12 hours.

We delayed laundry, are using paper plates when possible (I did run the dishwaser though), delaying laundry, and reminding the teenager to not take an hour long shower. I washed my hair today but quickly.

What say you DCUM?

Navy shower! Try it every time you shower.
Take a bath occasionally for relaxation etc.

What is a Navy shower? Is it similar to a whore's bath?

Get wet, turn of the water. Rub the shampoo in, slather on the soap or body wash, turn on the water and rinse it off.

I’m south asian and grew up doing bucket baths here. Didn’t take a proper shower until high school!

Fill up a bucket, or only half a bucket if you aren’t washing your hair. Dump a few large cups on yourself to get yourself wet. Slather on the soap and then rinse with cups of water. Use an empty tub of yogurt if you don’t have a water cup.

Saves a lot of water!

But standing under a hot shower feels so much nicer. Glad the restrictions are over.
