Why did Kamala lose ?

Anonymous
One contributor to the D loss was their leadership refusing to define “woman”.

This alienated real women (trans women are not biologically women) and caused them to vote R or not at all.

See pastor Gino Jennings for the definition of a woman.

Yeah,
I think that’s the lesson.

Dems walked away from the working class. The teamsters vote should have been the flashing red sign for the Kamala campaign.

Why do you think that is?

Because the teamsters don’t like lady leaders or because they don’t like immigrant workers/competition?

The trans topic was really perfect because the GoP could demonize them because few people know anyone who is trans. People don’t know anything about the medical process. It is just perfect for lies!

“Few people know anyone who is trans”
Then the Dems might not have made trans rights a cornerstone of its campaign.

Dumber than Trump though?

This may be the winner.

This has been going on for a long time now so the work to repair this will be difficult. Democrats need to prioritize economic issues over identity politics. I hope that the leadership can grasp this.

I’m working class. I voted democrat. Especially for my local elections.

I care about others.

Because Latinos are extremely religious & also misogynistic.

Also, legal immigrants loath illegals.

Agreed.

And it wasn’t necessary to adopt such rigid messaging on a fringe topic.

Heck, people forget that Obama didn’t embrace gay marriage.

Dems should have said we respect everyone—men and women, including trans men and trans women. No need to eliminate the word trans from generic labels. It’s not a bad word.

This was on Morning Joe.

He does. Obviously.

I read an interesting article way back when he ran and won the first time around. I think it was in The Economist.

The article explained one of the steps Trump took to win: he had staff listen to radio call in shows all the country for a long time to determine what people were most concerned with and what fired them up. And that’s how he developed his talking points.

ICYMI: it worked.

All you had to do was listen to C Span’s morning call ins to know Trump was going to win. The callers skew older, but the sentiment was for Trump.

She lost because she is female and a minority. Most of America can’t vote for someone who is not a white dude. And this country is racist at its core

The amount of attention Democrats at all levels focus on transsexuals is certainly one factor contributing to the blow-out.

-lenient with illegal immigration
-tremendous impopularity of refugee cities whose budgets have been impacted by dealing with flood of migrants
-emphasis on wokeness, trans issues, DEI (all things that I care about but average person does not)
-perception that Trump will bring more blue collar jobs back home
-tremendous impopularity of Biden
-handling of Israel/Gaza war

+1. And Biden calling people “garbage” a week before the election didn’t help either (though I thought her response and distance to his comments was good).

Trump was calling Pierre ricans garbage a week before the election, called for the suppression of the free press, and for Liz Cheneys execution all in the past week. Not sure why Dems are judged on a double standard. The question isn’t why Kamala lost - it’s why did trump win despite all of his disqualifying factors including counted felonies, staging a coup, being twice impeached for quid pro quo and trying to obstruct democracy, his general vileness and all the other corruption of his first term.

And I honestly have no idea. I am completely puzzled. Trump is a disaster of a candidate. My best guess is that voters just didn’t “like” Kamala for the same reasons they didn’t “like” Hillary- deeply rooted misogyny. The war in Gaza also likely fractured democratic support, not unlike Bernie bros in 2016.

It’s not about disliking Kamala. It’s about the Democratic Party not understanding what regular people care about. Inflation, immigration, the rise in crime.

Trump is horrible. But democrats have become insufferable. You can’t call people deplorables and garbage and expect them to vote for you. You can’t undermine their monthly budget with inflation and expect them to vote for you. You can’t let in millions of migrants and say it’s okay because they’re asylum seekers and expect them to vote for you.

Look at your own post. Anyone who listened to that Trump clip knows he wasn’t calling for the execution of Liz Cheney. He was calling her a chicken hawk. Things like that let people know the mainstream media can’t be trusted. This election was a repudiation of the Democratic Party. Democrats need to understand that, or they will keep on losing voters.

And often racist.

And have bias against certain races and ethnicities and religions.

And ICYMI: not only immigrants who become citizens and vote are Latino.

I think the influx of Asians, middle eastern/muslim, African, etc. immigrants and voters (1st Gen particularly) means more conservative voters…obviously.

There are many reasons.

- Illegal immigration is a disaster. It has impacted communities around the country and caused the death of suffering of far too many citizens. She was assigned the border early in her tenure as VP. Voters aren't stupid.
- The cost of living has increased to ridiculous highs under the current administration and as much as she tried to make the voting public forget that she is actually part of the current administration, voters aren't stupid.
- She did a poor job of outlining what she would do as president in actionable terms. She ran on hating Trump more than she ran on what she would do. Probably because she knew the public would reject what she really wanted to do. Again, voters aren't stupid.
- She was evasive and spoke in platitudes during interviews and was not terribly accessible as a candidate. Voters saw this as a preview of how she would be as president - evasive and inaccessible. Voters aren't stupid.
- She is not viewed as a strong leader. This was evident during her first run for president. Voters have memories.

There are plenty more reasons. But, media like MSNBC will chalk it up to racism and misogyny.
