Why did Kamala lose ?

Anonymous
She talked about "regular" people and the middle class, and people are not killing themselves to get into the USA to be regular. I cringed every time I heard that commercial about regular people. Welcome to America, get rich! That sells.

+1. What's rich is reading all the sanctimonious pro open border immigration crap on this forum, yet all the other DCUM sub-forums on here are full of leftist strivers OBSESSED with living in a prestige neighborhood and sending their kid to the "best" k-12 schools. We all know what that means: Avoiding any and all from poor minorities, unless they're over to deliver groceries, clean the toilets, and mow the lawn for peasant wages.

There’s a lot of truth to this.

Indeed. Hold for a token or two.

BS. We also call Buttigieg, Pete.

That's right. And did/would you vote for Pete Buttigieg? No. Why? Hmmm.

Agree.

Also take a morning off and sit in the Grand jury cases in Rockville court course for MoCo.
75% of the cases being put up are with illegals. Not a pretty pattern. Press won’t cover it. Common knowledge amongst police, lawyers, and jurors.

Tulsi and Nikki Haley would wiped the floor with Biden or Harris.

But Republicans didn’t pick Nikki. They re-upped Trump.

The Republicans didn't think it was serious enough when they spiked the Bipartisan Border Bill at Trump's request.

Was it a standalone bill?

Or did it have 500 pages of additional of BS attached to it?

What the hell are you rambling about?

Kamala is half black and Indian. Obama is half white and black, born in Hawaii, not Kenya. I'll tell you another reason why Kamala lost, too many nutjobs spouting crazy conspiracy theories. MAGA has fully embraced you and your ilk.

No, she's not. Kamala's dad was born in Jamaica; Jamaican nationality is not Black or African race/ethnicity. Her dad is bi-racial wealthy European and high caste Indian.

Since when are Jamaican's not black?

A primary not only raise the best candidate to the top, it also helps developing/distilling the message. It would have been helpful in a normal election.

However this is not a normal election, people hated Trump and still voted for him because they are suffering and want to see the world burn.

I cannot. You are trolling. Its not funny and it's disrespectful. Her dad is Afro Jamaican and majority of Jamaican are of Black/African descent. You're probably a disgruntled white male posting this garbage. The damn thread has gone off the rails.

This has been going on for a long time now so the work to repair this will be difficult. Democrats need to prioritize economic issues over identity politics. I hope that the leadership can grasp this.

It’s because DEI is actually virulently anti-working class, and voters know that.

How is "DEI" "anti-working class?" And, you seem to be referring to DEI in the private sector, which employs the majority of the working class. I'm not understanding you at all.

PP here. This is a complex topic that could be its own thread, but basically when you elevate immutable identity over class identity, you weaken the working class. DEI strategies have always hinged on the idea that social class is less important than gender, race, sex, sexual orientation, etc. But for most working class Americans, their experiences in life are far more defined by being working class than anything else. And more than that, by asking people to focus on immutable identities rather than class, it essentially works to prevent working class solidarity. Have you ever asked yourself why the biggest corporations in the world went all-in on DEI? It is because it is an anti-union effort. If you can pit working class employees against each other by fomenting distrust simply based on who they are as people, no unions will form.

Additionally, as implemented by institutions, DEI came up with a specific language and code words that were only accessible to those wealthy enough to go through the education that trained that language. DEI requires speaking a certain way, coding a certain way, etc., that is absolutely focused on the needs and wants of the upper and UMC, not the LMC and LC. The gatekeeping from DEI was meant to prevent class mobility.

But that is really for another thread.

Excellent and interesting explanation. Thank you.

Agree

Many politicians know that crime, poor educational outcomes, and welfare issues are in fact SES issues, not race or gender or religion issues.

But no politician will run on that. Much easier and simpler to blame racism and throw money at people along racial lines.

Anonymous wrote:Saw this on X as an explanation to Europeans why the election went the way it did. Seems to resonate with a lot of people:

1. Americans love their country and want it to be the best in the world. America is a nation of people who conquered a continent. They love strength. They love winning. Any leader who appeals to that has an automatic advantage.

2. Unlike Europeans, Americans have not accepted managed decline. They don't have Net Zero here, they believe in producing their own energy and making it as cheap as possible because they know that their prosperity depends on it.

3. Prices for most basic goods in the US have increased rapidly and are sky high. What the official statistics say about inflation and the reality of people's lives are not the same.

4. Unlike you, Americans do not believe in socialism. They believe in meritocracy. They don't care about the super rich being super rich because they know that they live in a country where being super rich is available to anyone with the talent and drive to make it. They don't resent success, they celebrate it.

5. Americans are the most pro-immigration people in the world. Read that again. Seriously, read it again. Americans love an immigrant success story. They want more talented immigrants to come to America. But they refuse to accept people coming illegally. They believe in having a border.

6. Americans are sensitive about racial issues and their country's imperfect history. They believe that those who are disadvantaged by the circumstances of their birth should be given the opportunity to succeed. What they reject, however, is the idea that in order to address the errors of the past new errors must be made. DEI is racist. They know it and they reject it precisely because they are not racist.

7. Americans are the most philosemitic nation on earth. October 7 and the pro-Hamas left's reaction shocked them to their very core because, among other things, they remember what 9/11 was like and they know jihad when they see it.

8. Americans are extremely practical people. They care about what works, not what sounds good. In Europe, we produce great writers and intellectuals. In America they produce (and attract) great engineers, businessmen and investors. Because of this, they care less about Trump's rhetoric than you do and more about his policies than you do.

9. Americans are deeply optimistic people. They hate negativity. The woke view of American history as a series of evils for which they must eternally apologise is utterly abhorrent to them. They believe in moving forward together, not endlessly obsessing about the past.

10. America is a country whose founding story is one of resistance to government overreach. They loathe unnecessary restrictions, regulations and control. They understand that freedom comes with the price of self-reliance and they pay it gladly.

Republican here. This absolutely resonates with me.

A microcosm of the issue here, but here is something that really pissed me off, and I think sums up the issue well. I watched a very inspiring 'American Girl" ad the other day from The Seneca Project -- kind of a nod to women's history and advancements made. You can view here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5WdvB3rVPc When it got to the "Supreme Court" portion of the advertisement, it flashed every single female justice except for Amy Coney Barrett. I can't articulate WHY it made me, a moderate, so very annoyed, but it ruined the entire ad for me. It's like, if a woman -- regardless of her successes or qualifications -- doesn't fit a narrow view of progressive noblesse, she doesn't exist. And I believe this gets to the larger issue at hand, that the Democrats lost because their tent isn't big, it's very very small, with a velvet rope at the door.

This board, and the Democrat party, are a liberal echo chamber. Democrats have lost touch with working class people and average Americans. They were running a campaign on abortion and “saving democracy” when people care about inflation and illegal immigration. Democrats were not responsive to people’s concerns and were removed from power accordingly. I hope they can have some self-reflection as a party and think about moving their platform back towards the center.

Kamala also lost because she was a bad candidate. She claimed to be a “change” candidate, but couldn’t list anything she would have done differently than Biden. She is a person who appears to have no core beliefs. She takes any political position she believes will be popular that day. She was like a robot in interviews. She couldn’t answer substantive questions without relying on the canned talking points her advisors gave her.

I will never respect any woman, as a woman myself, who voted for Trump in 2024. You voted for a geriatric, twice divorced, convicted felon. Trump has never in his life walked into a Walmart and purchased a carton of milk to feed his children. Never. Not once. Women are not human to him. Women are not his equals.

I’m sure your lack of respect for those women is deeply upsetting to them.

Anonymous wrote:Everyone (R or D) seems to agree that Harris was a poor candidate.
So let's go a step further and ask why.
The reason is that Democrats no longer allow the people to choose the candidate.
In 2020, there was initially a wide open primary with many candidates, and then a backroom deal was made where everyone withdrew overnight and pledged their support to Biden.
Then, in 2024, the party elites blocked anyone from challenging Biden, and handed him the nomination again, when he was obviously unfit.
Then, once they realized his unfitness, they forced him out and installed Kamala, again with no input from voters.
In contrast, Trump he has earned every single vote that he has ever gotten. That certainly cannot be said about Biden or Harris.

I don’t think this is why voters opted for Trump.

I think Trump had effectively shut down the border (albeit illegally as determined by litigation) and the Biden administration quickly reopened the border. No clue which voters he was trying to appease with that move.

The influx of immigrants transported to blue cities infuriated most voters.

So did the crime that liberals seemingly defended on mainstream media by saying Fox News and maga idiots were lying about crime and drugs and poop in the streets, etc. That also infuriated voters.

Then the whole bizarre fixation on trans rights pushed most voters over the edge. I think trans rights are important but that means fair treatment not special treatment. When liberals went all in on becoming the language police and saying things like pregnant persons I think that’s when we lost a lot of Dems and independents.

So here we are: Trump won and Congress is solidly Red.

Can we all just admit that our party and our media screwed up by making it look like we took a hard left and landed in crazyland instead of just sticking with “let’s be cool and treat everyone equally” rather than beating up on white cisgender whatever while calling them racists/idiots.

I call BS on the transgender issue. I refuse to believe voters were motivated by fear of a boy being in their daughter's gymnastics class or whatever. Immigration and economy were the hot tickets. I will never understand why right wingers are so fixated on LGBTQIAs, like they shouldn't exist or something.

DP.

Most of the Harris voters that I know are uncomfortable with the current D policy on trans issues.

We just held our noses and/or don't view it as a priority issue.

Yup. +1

1 in 3 people of color voted for Trump according to NBC exit polls. Guess they are racist against themselves.

They're not racist against themselves, they all know Kamala is not black. The only African Americans supporting Kamala were organizers and influencers who were taking campaign street money. Black barber shops and beauty salons were all making fun of her for the fraud she is. She's basically another Rachel Dolezal.

Almost 100% of Indians encountered in this video voted Trump...
