What kind of birthday cake do you like for yourself?

Anonymous
Chocolate with chocolate icing. A box cake is fine with me but I want it cooked in the past 24 hours and for the icing to be basic, homemade buttercream.

Color me "basic"

Carrot cake for me, cheesecake for DH.

No! I love fresh cherries of all varieties, dried cherries, cherry ice cream, cherry cake, cherries jubilee, even cherry licorice, but something about the texture of cherry pie is just so ... gross. What is it?

You might like one we do bc is not the store cherry filing that is the jello like soup… one we do more tart with crisp/crumble on top but we do in our tin so we call it pie

Lemon cake--a little tart. My DH will usually make a lemon bundt cake with extra lemon, and a lemon and sugar drizzle glaze.
Too bad it's 9 months until my next birthday.

Carrot cake. I'm surprised by how many others have it too!

This makes me so happy!

None. We intensely dislike the "American" style cakes and usually have a simple French nougatine or pavlova, or a victoria sponge with some fruit.

These cakes all sound hideous.

A butter yellow cake with homemade chocolate buttercream frosting. In my family, we just call that "birthday cake" and it is what I always want. I am the best maker of the birthday cake in my extended family, so I usually make my own cake!

And I bet you are a complete jerk in real life. You sound like a revolting person to be around in general.
