Why would anyone who dislikes Trump drive a Tesla?

Most Tesla drivers bought them before Elon went insane.

This is true for us. We are on our second Tesla, but I don’t think the product is getting better so I’m not sure we’d buy another one.

Why would anyone buy a Tesla now? Too many issues which have nothing to do with politics.

It is the perfect place to display drill baby drill and MAGA bumper stickers.

Stock is also significantly down for the year. Yes, it got a bump today, I imagine because of last night’s interview, but the stock is at $204 from $276

The shareholders should be so angry with him. He’s single-handedly alienating a huge portion of its customer base and destroying the brand.

If democrats care so much for the environment, they’d be driving teslas over their ICEs, yet they let politics get in the way too much of actually doing actionable items. You really should, separate the brand from the politics of a single guy in the company.

You’re acting as if Teslas are the only EV on the market.

They’re still the most reliable and have the best charging network, and the Model 3 and Model Y provide a good value. They’re all over California, so it’s unlikely that all Tesla owners support Trump.

It's not, it's just the best one. Tesla by far and away has the best battery on the market with rapid charging. They have the biggest network of chargers. Tesla has been improving their batteries for almost 10+ years at this point while basically all other automakers are still trying to retrofit their production lines and are still trying to figure out how to make decent batteries. It's really not even close, Tesla is the best battery maker for EVs and the most mature EV automaker. They're ahead by a country mile.

That is not true. First, Tesla uses multiple types of batteries so you can't talk as if there is just one "Tesla battery". Second, Lucid has far better batteries and is an overall better car (though more expensive also).

They do indirectly because that is what Elon does with some of his wealth. he uses to support trump.

Again, a lot of the CA drivers got their Teslas BEFORE the craziness with Trump came about. They just buy bumper stickers that say "I got my Tesla before Musk became a cult member".

Depends on which Tesla model for which you are looking for an alternative. But, I highly recommend the BMW i4 if you can get past the huge kidney grills (luckily you don't see them when you are driving). Lucid is probably technology-wise the best EV widely available today. But it is expensive. The Polestar 2 competes well but I have concerns about the longevity of the company because of the tariffs.

We stopped for gas at a WaWa that has a bank of Tesla chargers. A tow truck was in the way. A Tesla driver and two other people and the tow driver were all out arguing. The Tesla had a flat tire. Can a flat not be changed or the car towed? Things were getting hot.

I think they have nice paint jobs and colors available. It seems that every aggressive douchy driver has switched from BMW to Tesla, so I think they are Trump supporters.

I suppose because not everyone feels like moronic political squabbles need to dictate every single aspect of their lives, and they also like the cars.

Musk endorsed Trump so that Trump would specifically say that EVs are okay. He got more traffic on X than ever before. So more publicity, more sales. He did not give Trump any money (yet). So Elon gets something out of this.

The second thing is that Biden has dumped on Elon every which way so Elon is not thrilled to endorse the Ds. The first thing Biden did when he got into office was to invite the CEO's of car companies for a meeting. Except he did not invite Musk (even though Musk is an American car company) because Musk does not run a union shop. That was the reason and Musk has not forgotten.

No other company is profiting on their EVs (they sell them at a loss so far). Only Tesla is selling at a profit. Why? Because mass production matters.

Finally, Musk was first into the EV market. There would be no EV market without Musk and Tesla. He said at the beginning that he wanted other companies to join him and they have so that's good.

Tesla builds a good car and other companies are now adopting the Tesla charging standard. Tesla has the biggest charging network. Musk can be as crazy as he wants to be. Lots of people do not buy a car based on who started the company. A lot of Americans work for Tesla and have created an EV when no one else had done it before. The company is way more than just Elon. Many talented engineers and workers there.

Do you remember when people gave other people sh*t for buying a Prius (back in the day)? Also people buy I phones even though Apple uses slave labor in China. Other companies just hide their dirty laundry while Elon puts himself out there.

If Elon had had to run as a union shop (like dinosaur Biden wanted and would like), there would probably be no Tesla EV. Look what has happened to other US car manufacturers.

Biden is too old to understand how innovation happens.

Or it could be reverse psychology. If Trump says EVs are okay, many of his supporters may say he sold out and reject him. So either way Musk is doing something positive.

Yea, instead they should follow Elon's management style and fire people who have the know how to keep the lights on.

Funny how you seem anti-union when one union supports Trump. You should tell those people that unions aren't good, and that Trump doesn't support them.
