I wanted a Tesla but would never buy one now because of Musk. He’s too creepy. |
+1. Sadly many people disagree with us as they seem to be replacing Priuses as the car I see all over the roads. |
It’s the same reason the Chic Fila line is super long in every town when you drive by. People post and talk online but most don’t care about politics of a company if they like the product. |
My family has had Teslas for years but the last few years they are crap. Plastic pieces cracking and cheap shortcuts. Not the same quality at all so we are done

Do you live u set a rock? I don’t mean to be rude, but these were all major events. 2021: trump kicked of Twitter 2022: Elon Musk buys Twitter, chaos ensues, eventually renamed x. Musk makes much of the need to stop the silencing of “free speech” and then proceeds to use X to silence free speech. |
I hope Musk makes Biden/Harris mad enough that they relax the tariffs on Chinese EVs. https://apnews.com/article/biden-tariffs-ev-china-mexico-tai-809b0e27339d38dcd3834d2cbb14e1d1
"President Joe Biden on Tuesday directed the office of the U.S. Trade Representative to impose a total tariff in excess of 102% on Chinese EVs, as well as directing new tariffs on other products including steel, aluminum, computer chips and solar cells." Small and cheap EVs might actually be good for the environment, unlike large expensive "luxury" EVs. |
Trump is different. He has done real damage to people. Many people would never consider giving musk another dime. It is safe to assume that most folks driving a Tesla are fine with giving Elon money and probably support Trump. |
They like the car? I'm not sure every car manufacturing CEO out there is a lovely being of love and kindness who is a Democrat...We all buy product from awful people. |
I bought an EV in March and a second one two weeks ago. I didn't consider a Tesla for a minute because of Musk. In order to learn more about EVs before I bought one, I have been reading a ton of EV forums for about the last 8 months. I think it is safe to say that initially most Tesla owners loved Musk. As he made his rightward turn, many became uncomfortable with him. When he announced that he would contribute millions to Trump, that was the final straw for a lot of Tesla and non-Tesla owners. There are a number of owners who bought their cars before Musk alienated them and they are torn between cars they love and Musk. Some rationalize keeping and even buying new Teslas because they like the cars. Tesla maintains a huge advantage when it comes to its charging network and, in some cases, that is enough to cause drivers to put aside their anti-Musk feelings. Others won't consider another Tesla once their leases end or they sell their current cars. Almost all EV manufacturers in the US are seeing increased sales except Tesla. So it is pretty clear that Musk has had a negative impact on sales.

I think you're looking at it as super political. Many people aren't and just live their lives. They may dislike someone, but not severely. |
+1 We sold ours last year. |
then they were not paying attention. He has always been a complete jerk. |
By the OP's logic, if you buy an EV do you dislike Detroit and pledge loyalty to China since most of it is made there? |
I wouldn’t buy a Tesla because everyone I know who has one, has a ton of problems with them. There seems to be some quality issues. Oh and Musk is a despicable person. |
That’s the irony of it. Tesla has done the single biggest job on the planet at trying to wean people off fossil fuels. They are the best EV brand by far. If democrats care so much for the environment, they’d be driving teslas over their ICEs, yet they let politics get in the way too much of actually doing actionable items. You really should, separate the brand from the politics of a single guy in the company. |
