Why would anyone who dislikes Trump drive a Tesla?

Tesla is in the tank. Would not get behind the wheel of anything that lunatic thinks is a good idea. Next thing you know my Tesla is tracking my menstrual cycle and sending that data away.

That's different. No one knows who those farmers are. They aren't public figures and don't go around shooting their mouths.

Take a look at other CEOs of F100. They don't tweet divisive comments.

Do you know the political leanings for Ford? Chrysler? What about Mazda or BMW? Now I need to research Japanese or German politics!!!

Buy the car you like. Life's too short for that noise.

Give your money to musk if you choose. I don't want to give any of my hard earned cash to Elon musk with very good reason.

My liberal neighbors bought a Tesla a few years ago when there weren't many options.

By 2022 there were more options and I bought an ID.4 because I was starting to feel squeamish about Musk (and I still love the ID.4 for what's worth, including taking it on two 6-hour trips this spring). Today there are many great options, no need to give Musk your money.

No sweetheart, the real elephant in the room is:

WHY WOULD ANY DEM SUPPORTING BIDEN/HARRIS GREEN EBERGY POLICY STILL DRIVE GASOLINE CAR IN 2024?

If you are using social media to pressure Musk to stop supporting Trump - or else, Dems will stop buying his cars - that’s unlikely to work.
Musk has a rock solid cult-like following based on his visionary actions, and far more foolish things he said or done in the past, hasn’t change it.

Because many cannot afford EVs? Or buy a new car every few years? Or because they don't live in an area that has a lot of EV charging stations?

How silly. Of course you will buy if price is good and mileage low.
Like every other rational person in this country.

As an economist, I need to say that being "rational" fully includes your aesthetic and other non-quantifiable preferences. Economists sometimes even try to price out these other things to model in hypothetical utility functions.

PS. Have you ever paid more to get the blue car instead of the puke green-khaki car? That's what we're talking about.

You’re acting as if Teslas are the only EV on the market.

It's not, it's just the best one. Tesla by far and away has the best battery on the market with rapid charging. They have the biggest network of chargers. Tesla has been improving their batteries for almost 10+ years at this point while basically all other automakers are still trying to retrofit their production lines and are still trying to figure out how to make decent batteries. It's really not even close, Tesla is the best battery maker for EVs and the most mature EV automaker. They're ahead by a country mile.

I own a Volkswagen EV. We chose NOT to buy a Tesla for a number of reasons, including many of the aforementioned. But I do envy the Tesla charging network, especially compared to Electrify America, which is absolutely awful. Once they start selling adapters so that we can all use the Tesla chargers, I don't think I will be able to resist. I will happily choose anything else that doesn't make Elon Musk richer but when one option is top-notch and the other terrible, it is hard to stay strong.

I don’t know the political leanings of many founders/CEOs. That is the entire point. Musk has made his very well known and it leads me to believe he cannot be trusted. So I won’t buy a car from a company whose leader I do not trust.

Look at the interview the other day evening. Everyone knowledgeable says that there was no DDOS attack. If he will lie about that, what else will he lie about?

+1. And if you live in Virginia the high cost of EVs is a double whammy when you consider the annual personal property tax. Last year I bought a gasoline SUV that gets 30 MPG and solar panels for my house. The combined price of both purchases would have gotten me a Tesla - and the panels actually save me money.

Most Tesla drivers bought them before Elon went insane.

We bought ours in 2018. We aren't selling and buying a new car b/c the company owner is a Trump supporter. Also, it's an awesome car and we love not going to the gas station.

But you should want your grocery store to only source from liberal-leaning suppliers, right?

Or they purchased it before Elon went crazy. And most people don't just go out and sell a perfectly good $50K+ vehicle for those reasons.

I have several friends who own Teslas. Half of them will not be purchasing one again, largely due to Musk. But they are not going to sell their 4 yo cars, they will wait for a. few more years

Agree, but still refuse to purchase a Tesla. In the next year, BMW will be joining Tesla Charging network. And their iX has a 315/320 range, so getting close to Tesla battery range. Happy to own a BWM iX rather than a Tesla. But I do admit the other manufacturers need to work on battery range. Love Audi and Lexus, but their batteries are nowhere close. Making it a hard no--not paying $75K+ for an SUV with 220 range

PP here. Political leanings don't bother me that much, unless you are a complete ahole about it. But Musk and Trump are just awful human beings.

I think you're really confused about who exactly hates Musk. FWIW, I also don't really like the Squad, either.
