That success has run out, and look where we are in very short order. She is a corrupt failure.

The success has run out? That’s laughable when she stopped Monumental from going to Virginia and will likely get the Commanders to come back to DC as well.

Who was it? Bowser or Lucas? It seems everyone is quick to take credit.

Bowser was the one at the podium with the shirt on, and was relentless over the past few weeks in her efforts. So I give her more credit. Lucas was busy x-ing or tweeting—but yes she deserves credit too since her opposition kept the DC window open.

The hell are you talking about? This deal would be done and dusted if it weren’t for Lucas. She single-handedly stopped it and deserves ALL of the credit.

Leonsis only came back to DC when he realized he had no other option. He even made a last ditch effort to take the teams to Maryland before he finally gave up.

And despite have no bargaining power whatsoever, he managed to secure millions more in funding from DC taxpayers than he would have gotten had Bowser been better organized and gotten the deal done last year.

Well Mayor bowser was desperate to not repeat the mistakes of Sharon Pratt Kelly in the 90s when DC was at its nadir. Downtown’s Woodies and Garfinkel’s department stores closed with world-class shopping moving out to the suburbs. The Redskins left town for MD after failing to secure an Alexandria deal. DC was the world’s murder capital (per capita stat).

So yes, she needed to offer all that money in addition to the many other perks.

I’m happy that Leonsis stayed in the end, but object to what happened being sold to us as a win for Bowser. The whole process was a complete shitshow and the teams would be long gone if it weren’t for a plucky grandmother from the shipyards of Hampton Roads.

I hope the $500m is part of a broader revitalization effort starting with cleaning up Gallery Place at least a little. I mean, I loved the street corner music like Spread Love Band playing funky NOLA-style horns, I actually didn't mind the weirdo Black Israelite street preacher dudes but now apparently even gotten too bad for them and it's mostly just an open air drug market with groups of sketchy characters mean-mugging any person minding their business walking down the street.

Help the restaurants out, sort things out with rents so the restaurants don't feel compelled to play their stupid "surcharge fee" games, help out Chinatown, bring back more Chinese culture, food and people to keep DC's vibe alive.

This! I hope she sent Sen. Lucas a trip around the world!

Yes. Sen Lucas will be enjoying her well-earned whirlwind getaway around the globe.

According the news blog DC Eater, the expensive cocktails at the Waldorf Astoria were the real reason why Monumental decided not to move. The Mayor met there weekly with Leonsis for drinks.

Between the 911 call center problems and the issues with the DC crime losing accreditation, I think its long overdue to recall Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Thoughts?

No. Washington DC deserves everything it gets.

No. Just the Council. She’s saved the teams, talks crime, fights the council.

Recall Allen and Nadeau, and get treatment for White (inpatient)

Mayor Bowser wasn’t swayed nor did she sit in back rooms with the DC Justice Lab and play patty cake with public safety.

The council is full of idiots.

That sums it up just about right
