I'm reading this exclusive interview from ABC 7 in DC and I'm furious.
https://wjla.com/features/i-team/dc-911-call-center-office-of-unified-communications-cleo-subido-whistleblower-lawsuit-mayor-muriel-bowser-dispatch-police-fire-ems-delayed-response-times-fraud-abuse-allegations Between the 911 call center problems and the issues with the DC crime losing accreditation, I think its long overdue to recall Mayor Muriel Bowser. Thoughts? |
| No. But I can think of some clownish council members who need to go. |
Yes, absolutely. Off the top of my head: Education: Underfunding Test score scandal Graduation scandal Suspecting scandal Public Safety: Crime trends 911 call center Crime lab Housing: Homeless shelter developer giveaway Vouchers, everything about them, including paying above market rates Not providing oversight of voucher recipients Personnel: Several scandals and resignations from her top staff Land use: Public field giveaways Public building giveaways Like I said, off the top of my head. |
|
Probably needs to happen, but it will change nothing, as long as the moronic voters of DC keep electing people just like her.
The voters are the ones who should be recalled. |
| She was literally the most moderate Democrat in the last election. You’ll get a Justice Lab lackey if you recall Bowser |
This is the main person in DC who should be recalled. |
|
Exactly.
Blaming councilmembers for the lack of crime enforcement and the deterioration of city services over the past 5 years is ridiculous. The buck is supposed to stop with her, and it is clear she is not a visionary or an effective administrator. |
| Of course. |
Catania was fine. |
Every reason you listed is valid and is the reason I started this post. At the beginning I thought Bowser was at least competent. That she could keep the city running. But that really isn't the case. This term is beginning to show that she does a horrible job of putting quality people in key positions. People like the whistleblower show that there are people in this city willing to come in and try to do a good job. And that they actually care. Watch the OP link on ABC. Bowser doesn't try to fix problems. She tries to bury it. I hope someone has the motivation to begin a recall. I'd join it. |
| People underestimate her popularity, probably because her most ardent critics are so terminally online (and so terminally white, and so terminally mediocre). There would be a massive backlash against any recall effort from the people in wards where 99 percent of DCUM posters never have stepped foot. |
| The problem with this city is that after 16 years of Marion Barry, any mayor looks at least semi-competent. The bar is set incredibly low because of him. |
| Anyone who replaces her would be worse. An empty suit is better than those who would come in and work to make things worse, like her opponents the last time around. |
We will just have to hope that she becomes a better mayor. She should grow into the job after a few decades, so don't give up hope! |

I posted the laundry list of reason to recall her. I also voted for her most recently and, when my CM asked me whom they should support, I suggested pinching their nose and endorsing Bowser. (I am friendly with my CM.)
The idea that anyone who could win would be worse is mistaken. Christina Henderson could do it. If public safety improves quickly and substantially, Brooke Pinto gets a lane. Even though Robert White ran an abysmal campaign in my Ward, his earlier record on the Council was quite encouraging. We should not resign ourselves to accepting her poor performance just because it could be worse. That’s the type of loser mentality that got dc into this mess in the first place. |
