No she shouldn’t be recalled. What an absurd waste of time that would be.
We are better off encouraging other people (like Christina Henderson) to run and volunteer for their campaign. Recalls should only be used for extreme cases of corruption, which we haven’t seen from the mayor. (I’m no fan and have never voted for her.) |

Im the PP you’re responding to.
This is a good response and worth thinking about. Maybe you’re right. But I’d also contend that the voucher stuff is a full-blown scandal. They’re knowingly violating federal law, doing nothing about it, and then actively making things worse. |
I don't think its a waste of time at all. I want to trust 911 I want to trust the DC crime lab. Things are bad. And much worse than you are willing to admit. She is far more incompetent than any of us are willing to admit. |
| It does seem like the whole Bowser administration including the mayor just stopped working and are just coasting through the third term. Perhaps overconfidence. Perhaps Bowser is just prioritizing being a mother. Who knows. But I question whether any if the alternatives are a better option to having a lame duck caretaker Mayor who is doing the bare minimum. |
Bowser is not competent in any way. I've been screaming this for years! No one wanted to listen. She had no major work history. |
Who is a likely alternative, Robert White? If Pinto were to run there would be NO moderating voice on the Council. Better to identify electable candidates for Council and Mayor and to focus on the current recalls. USAO is a huge issue as is AG. Who is an alternative for AG? McDuffie, who did not even meet the qualifications, ran anyway then had the requirements re: extent of legal practice changed? Share you concerns re: 911, lab and all the rest but she was the best of a bad series of choices. Improving the alternatives is a needed step. |
Do you honestly think Trayon would be doing a better job? |
Absolutely and there are a few solid choices currently on the Council (Pinto and Henderson). If Pinto became mayor, Ward 2 would likely elect someone similarly moderate and business-friendly. And Pinto would definitely weigh in with an endorsement. Henderson is more likely to win election as Mayor due to the demographics of the electorate, but she would most likely be replaced on the Council by someone who is more left leaning. It seems like the best option right now is to support the open primary ballot initiative that will come up for a vote this fall. That's a great way to "improve the options" moving forward. -W2 Democrat |
No. Can I name 5 other people on the council that could do a better job? Yes |
| Bowser demonstrates that arrogance and incompetence are never a good combination. |
| Mayor Pinto now! |
Which 5? I put the number more like 2. |
| Yes, but won’t change anything. Next President has to take back control of DC and straighten things out. |
the main problem is, this is her third term and she doesn't have any competent cronies left to fill positions, so she is on the third/fourth tier now, and their lack of experience, lack of vision, lack of anything don't serve the mayor or city at all. She was never a visionary. She came into the job as a protoge of Adrian Fenty, but her only real experience was as an ANC Commissioner and then Councilmember, but not even a seasoned one at that. So, no vision and no administrative experience. And we are seeing it now. |
What work or executive/administrative experience does Pinto have? Come one people, use your heads. |
