Should Mayor Muriel Bowser Be Recalled?

Except they aren't the problem. They aren't in charge of the crime lab and 911. The MAYOR IS!

Who is a likely alternative, Robert White? If Pinto were to run there would be NO moderating voice on the Council.

Better to identify electable candidates for Council and Mayor and to focus on the current recalls. USAO is a huge issue as is AG. Who is an alternative for AG? McDuffie, who did not even meet the qualifications, ran anyway then had the requirements re: extent of legal practice changed?

Share you concerns re: 911, lab and all the rest but she was the best of a bad series of choices. Improving the alternatives is a needed step.

Absolutely and there are a few solid choices currently on the Council (Pinto and Henderson). If Pinto became mayor, Ward 2 would likely elect someone similarly moderate and business-friendly. And Pinto would definitely weigh in with an endorsement.

Henderson is more likely to win election as Mayor due to the demographics of the electorate, but she would most likely be replaced on the Council by someone who is more left leaning.

It seems like the best option right now is to support the open primary ballot initiative that will come up for a vote this fall. That's a great way to "improve the options" moving forward.

What work or executive/administrative experience does Pinto have?

Come one people, use your heads.

Pinto just resonates with the DCUM demo. She'd have zero chance in a city wide

Pinto has almost no experience, she’s a child with rich parents. It’s absurd to put her forward as a serious mayoral candidate.

She has no business trying to run for mayor

Bowser should get at least one more term

No, again, the Council sucks

Term limits or ideally disband

She has my support and also the support of many of our neighbors.

The mayor should not be recalled. She should not run again, but trying to recall her is a waste of time and money.

Even though she’s a business’s friendly moderate, she won’t win again, especially if Wizards/Caps leave the city (which is still up in the air).

The wildly popular Mayor Sharon Pratt Kelly lost because of the Redskins’ move.

Does anyone in her "administration" have any idea about anything? It's always just one fiasco or scandal after another and the results are all around us. I never voted for her and would gladly sign a recall petition.

I think it would direct some much needed attention on her failings. How she manages to skate by while everyone else gets scrutinized is an amazing magic trick. Plus would shine some much needed light on the Falcicchio (spelling) scandal that has never been properly resolved and countless other scandals we don't know about.

The hilarious thing to remember is that if Bowser announced today she was switching parties and declaring herself a Republican, everyone on this thread who’s like “no, of course we shouldn’t try to recall her!” would be lining up to sign that recall petition.

A close friend just did a stint in DC gov and said basically that a lot of people who work in DC gov are great, but the failure of the administration (including many agency heads) to see the entire bureaucracy as anything but a spoils system makes the likelihood of Bowser doing anything worthwhile small.

Some of these scandals we as the general public don't know about are likely very small but entirely unethical.

While Falciccio is known for the sexual harassment complaints against him by former staff, he was also the mayor’s go-to guy for developers looking for favors from the District. That’s also the subject of investigation.

That has been rumored, like the FBI investigation into a pay-for-play scheme at DLCP, but not confirmed.
