Ohhh no not a club leaving… let’s just fold the league. Happens all the time. GA is creating a lane and in future years will reap the reward. ECNL is def overall stronger for now. Compare year 4 GA to year 4 ECNL though. We’ve done both leagues and I’ve noticed better (more aggressive, physical) players in ecnl because winning is priority. In GA we are playing the right way and struggling along the way. For example our goalie isn’t allowed to punt and allow strikers to outrun the defense, she has to play out of the back… ecnl team we kicked it up to striker who outran everyone. If you want to win go ecnl if you want to develop go GA. Very few clubs can do both - it happens but rare.

Rumor is:

NEFC (Mass)
Tophat (Georgia)
Ukrainian Nationals (Penn)
Nationals (Michigan)
Colorado Rush (Colorado)

will be announced in 2 waves

Lonestar, Florida United, Southshore Select, Lou Fusz, Spokane Sounders, and Albion San Diego have all submitted Regional League Applications

Good luck if all that is true!

I’ll take the under on that list.

The rumor I heard was that after the US Soccer announcement clubs that were trying to leverage ECNL went crying back to GA

This is about the best drawn up list I’ve seen and makes the most sense.

I will note, NEFC and Tophat are hated by ECNL so for them to join will be huge.

Top hat and Nationals both have 2 teams in GA, I wonder if ECNL will make room for that.

Thank you for this list. I have seen these same names floating around.

I think both leagues are realizing that 2 team clubs should not exist. Those clubs are very good, and second teams do well, but I don't think in 5 years either league will have any clubs with 2 teams. Short term solution that creates long term issues.

I don’t see anything wrong with 2 teams if they do well. Nationals 2nd team is typically in the middle from what I see so props to them

Hmmm, this March is going to be really interesting.

Is that when ECNL announces new clubs?

This changes zero

GA knows they are in real trouble so spinning propaganda HARD right now

USWNT is 85% ECNL players (about to change with who is coming over.. hint.. its going up %wise)

80% of the first round of NWSL draft was ECNL players (take a guess which league they like).

GA Bubble is about to get DESTROYED next week, watch...

Once again, you have no confirmation or can’t tell us which clubs are leaving.

GA news with US Soccer is huge news. You are trying to deny that. DA 2.0 is ecnls biggest nightmare. Just like mls next has pissed them off.

This only matters if MLS next becomes available to all GA clubs which would make GA more attractive to ECNL clubs. No clubs are moving the girls to GA without a landing sport for the boys. I doubt MLS next dilutes itself that much.

Correct.

But rule is that generally teams that have MLS Next are told to put their girls in GA.

Rule based on? There are plenty of GA clubs with ECNL Boys, also plenty with MLS Next. I know there is a push from ECNL to flip boys out of MLS Next, but there are zero cases (so far ill admit) of any ECNL club flipping to GA...not a single one in 4 years.

People can claims ifs, and buts all they want but there just isn't a precedent, and how as a club do you force your girls into a league thats losing its top clubs every year to ECNL?

Usually you don’t leave a more established league for up and coming but once us soccer starts entrenching themselves in GA we’ll see if we see clubs flip.

As it stands no girls ECNL teams have jumped to GA, they have no reason to.

Teams that have girls in ECNL and boys in mls next are probably going to keep girls in ECNL because ECNL would rather not lose both.

ECNL has bent their own rules to allow this to happen.

What will most likely happen is that now, under US Soccer, GA teams will have access to better resources (ynt/nswl) and ECNL clubs will have to decide whether it’s best for them to stay in ECNL or jump to mls next/ga platform.
