This is basically DA 2.0

Correct but this time instead of funneling to the USMNT or USWNT the Acadamies are now funneling to MLS or NWSL clubs.

Yes, but unfortunately, there’s not a lot of nwsl teams in areas where great soccer is played.

Haha so many uneducated comments here. All this actually means is that the GA can self sanction, which means provide their own carding, liability insurance, etc. they were using USSSA, and USYS before that.

It also allows them to build out their GA Rising second tier that they announced and then scrapped as no one would sanction it. This changes zero in the landscape except the ability to card themselves without anyone else saying how things are structured etc

It also allows NWSL to partner with GA the way MLS partners with MLS Next

ECNL is not a member of US Soccer.

I also think folks are forgetting that DA did break.

But they’ve had 3 years to plot, fix and create a better product. ECNL has done a great job of keeping great clubs/competition out.

Personally, I think the shift is changing and with the amount of boys looking to play mls next… it may be the start to the downfall of ecnl

Wait until NWSL clubs start running Camps and ID Sessions at GA clubs as they ramp up for Academies.

Even if there are no academies formed, NWSL will run their most of their stuff through these GA clubs

Lol, true, but it made the ECNL boosters pause for a moment….

There’s more to it than just that. They already have DPL as a supplemental league..

They are making their way to nwsl next

It appears that this is what GA was working towards. To gain membership from US Soccer again. They did it in a short 4 years!

This is a huge full circle moment and I couldn’t be happier for the girls - GA alum and current players.

This was our vision from day 1. Dropped by US Soccer to only be granted full membership by US Soccer 4 years later. Absolutely fantastic to see this critical piece be solidified. 👏🏾

Still trying to dissect on if this is big news or a big moment, why hasn't or what has kept ECNL from doing the same?
