| There will be a few new MS principal positions open as MS principals move up to fill HS positions. |
Guess the principals have a better union! |
| They’re certainly quieter. Public hears little from them. |
You weren't paying attention. Google Christine Handy, President · MONTGOMERY COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF ADMINISTRATORS AND PRINCIPALS |
That's not the way it works. |
Nope. Not at all how it works. |
| How does it work? If a principal retired in October, they can’t hold an interim position that same year? |
Yes, principals can sub in a long-term vacancy just like teachers can for level alike positions. For teachers it's called long-term sub but principals it is interim ______. It is the same situation but different terminology. Nothing to see here folks!! Moving on! |
| But can teachers retire mid year and then sub, in the same way that admins can retire mid year and be an interim? |
Yes! Everyone needs to wait 45 days after retirement before they can come back. So what is the problem here? |
| Relax. I wanted to understand. The only problem is that it sucks for students when principals and/or teachers retire mid year. |
Quite relaxed after dinner. My response was partially to you and then also to the other posters trying to make it seem like it's not the same process and that principals have some sort of golden parachute. Oftentimes, the principals that come back in interim positions have been begged to to do so. School communities should be thankful - running a school well is no easy feat. Just like the teacher shortage, there's a shortage of principals (especially good ones). With all of those vacancies (and more to come) they will be filled but will it be with the quality you want? 😶🌫️ |
I'm guessing no |
| I see the board has a special 30 minute meeting for appointments only on March 7th. Maybe some of the principal positions will get filled. |
Sure, the positions will all get filled. But who will fill them all? |
