Even if they announce them this spring, they won't start until July 1.

A number of the formal vacancies have acting principals. Do acting principals usually get the jobs formally?

Often they do, but not always.

+1
For example, they could decide to move one of the acting principals for a MS to a high school instead, or vice versa.

Will they change the loophole that makes it possible for principals to retire or leave mid year because it won’t impact their pension? It’s disruptive to schools.

Would YOU be okay if your job restricted the timing of your retirement? I am.prerty sure the answer is no.

Rather than trying to treat principals like second class citizens, maybe the system should treat them better. Address the problem rather than implementing unfair, retaliatory consequences.

It's not a loophole. It's dependent on your eligible retirement date and some of those dates do not correspond with the last day of the school year.

They'd have to add a really nice incentive for the union to go for that!

Well, as it stands a principal can retire mid year then double dip in the same county while an interim holds his or her job for the rest of th3vyear. It may be the way it is, but teachers can’t do that, and it’s not good for schools and students.
