Currently has an acting principal

And note those acting principals were originally slated to be principal interns. So they’re doing the job of principal while also finishing any MCPS courses required to be an actual principal. Same for acting AP’s.

That may be the case for some of the acting principals, but not all.

Please list which ones were not originally added as principal interns.

Who will be recommending the replacements?

The interim superintendent

Are we expecting some of the interim principals to be replaced before school starts next year, or are they likely to continue/get the job officially? I'm especially wondering about Wheaton.

I think that really depends on if Dr. Mugge wants to retire again.

Shortage. National crisis. Vote smart this primary/caucas, mobilize people who CARE about education to run, help them campaign, vote for them, get out the vote. Our country is in a crisis as many retire or quit. Only each of us can do something about this. Read-follow what is happening-get active-vote sensibly.

And for the love of god, get partisanship out of schools. They shouldn't be ground zero of the culture wars!

I know one of the principals retiring and they have been planning this for years. In this case I don’t think anything that has happened recently has changed the plans any.

It's great that we have so much new blood! Many of these principals have been here too long. Newer hires will be more open to new ideas.

No they will not unfortunately. They will be controlled by Central in everything. What message they write to parents after an incident at the school, when they send out that communication, what they can say or do about real issues happening inside our schools - students "roughhousing" bathrooms. So no, no new ideas in this system. They will be a body occupying a building to fulfill a law that requires a Principal be placed in a school building.

Added one more.

Thought we could use a centralized thread to track the unusually large list of vacancies and any hiring developments, especially as it is likely to continue to grow. This list has the five schools above plus the 18 schools which currently have acting principals, indicated with asterisks. Have I missed any?
