PP you quoted here. I agree, but this is the hill that millions of American gun owners are willing to die on. Apparently this is one of the most important rights they feel they have as American citizens. They don't care about the thousands of people that are killed or maimed every year by guns or who take their own lives with a gun. They have proven it time and again. They...don't...care. It's baked into their worldview and nothing, not even the images of dead children from Sandy Hook, Uvalde, etc. has changed that. I will continue to support common sense gun reform through voting and monetary contributions, but I'm not holding my breath that anything will change substantially any time soon. |

You think UN Peacekeepers are going to go house to house in every state? UN Peacekeepers are going to willingly give their lives and die far away from their families to take guns from American citizens? Why would UN Peacekeepers do that? Not many people will give their lives for others. I highly doubt UN Peacekeepers will accept the mission of going house to house in America. American leo and military aren’t giving up their guns, they aren’t going to kill their fellow Americans to take their guns. The majority of gun deaths occur in the Black community. Blacks make up 70% of the gun homicide victims, and these victims are shot and killed by another Black person. |

Among African American children, the rate of gun deaths per 100,000 people was 11.8. That was more than five times the figure for other racial and ethnic groups. For white children and Hispanics, the figure was 2.3 per 100,000, and for Asian children, it was even lower, at 0.9.

So it’s not “red state” vs “blue state” it’s the fastest the Black people comprise the majority of gun deaths and Black population is concentrated in red states. UN peacekeepers can go into Black neighborhoods and take their guns. Their handguns. In 2020, the most recent year for which the FBI has published data, handguns were involved in 59% of the 13,620 U.S. gun murders and non-negligent manslaughters for which data is available. Rifles – the category that includes guns sometimes referred to as “assault weapons” – were involved in 3% of firearm murders. Shotguns were involved in 1%.
