He should have been tried as an adult. He did some pretty heinous crimes.

I hope this guy gets expelled if he is in school. No one should have to go to school with someone like that.

I hope Arlington, VA gets blasted in the national news for this too.

Groping = “heinous”?

wow thanks for revealing yourself. yes, hiding in the bushes to jump out and grope FIVE women (while filming it!) is heinous and pretty much proof of a very disturbed mind. I don’t think he should be in jail but probably some kind of residential treatment facility for at least a year. something is seriously wrong with him.

Please. These sexual assaults are closer to pranks than a heinous crime.

Goddamn this thread was a depressing read. What is wrong with you two and everyone else excusing and minimizing this behavior? Smdh.

Often times teens like this are in special education under emotionally disturbed or other health impaired due to ADHD. So their parents say they have impulse control issues and can't help it so it is a manifestation of their disability so they CAN'T be punished. So they aren't punished, so they get to stay in school to harass and terrorize more of their classmates and teachers.

This is an awful consequence of the juvenile justice system no longer incarcerating teens who deserve to be incarcerated in camps or some other structured program. Incarceration rates are down 70%. Schools now have to deal with these kids. So much time is spent by administrators on kids who 10 years ago would have been incarcerated for sexual offenses, attempted murder, car jackings, etc.

BS - do you even have a kid in APS?

What would your sentence be for a minor who gropes a woman?

Repeatedly? Does he need all five fingers?

Disgusting

No one excused or minimized it. Some people are wildly overreacting though.

Sex crimes have the highest recidivism rate. They're not really "about" sex at all, as we know. They tend to get worse by degree over time. Is this kid receiving a hell of a lot of treatment and supervision, or are we saying victims and future victims don't matter. I would day survivors but some sex crimes end in death.

When someone writes “these acts are closer to a prank than a crime” and multiple people agree - that is both excusing and minimizing.

Disappointing reaction to do the whole me too thing and still be here: it’s just a little groping, he’s just a boy, how could we hold him accountable for that in a meaningful way. Think of his future! 🙄

Because that is reality. He is being accountable for his crime. It's just not a "heinous" crime that requires him to be locked up with adults for an extended period of time - which would do more to send him on the wrong path than treatment.

So now he's a murderer? I guess if it fits the narrative it must be true.

At 17 and having done it 5 times and filmed it, I’d say he should get whatever an adult would and be registered as sex offender. Sex crimes are notorious for escalating. Many of these comments are very Polly Anna

Let’s say this kid jumped out of the bushes with the intention of groping a woman. The woman doesn’t know his intention. He immediately grabs her crotch. She assumes she’ll be raped and chooses fight mode. She pulls out her legally registered concealed gun and shoots the perp with the intention of preventing rape. She’s a sharp shooter and he dies. She’s charged with manslaughter at best or murder. Is this justice? These degenerates need to be rehabilitated in prison for the duration of extent of the crime. I’m not a Republican.

Obviously something is very wrong with him. I hope he gets some serious help.

But grabbing someone and running away is not the same as a rape. I don't know what the appropriate legal consequences are for a 17 YO but lock up with accomplished criminals isn't it. Long term therapy maybe? Good luck getting "the system" to pay for that.

So 5 minutes for each assault? Guess he's being treated disproportionately roughly. How unfair.

Would a woman be justified in shooting him? Probably. That doesn't make his assault heinous though.

this not true. any kid can be suspended for up to 10 days. if their disability is causing the behavior they can be sent to a more restrictive setting.

Who are you to deem it not heinous? And the truly heinous part is that he filmed it and did it FIVE times. Where do you think a kid like this is heading?

wtf is wrong with you? it is not a “prank” to stalk and jump women at night to grab their genitals and film it.

He grabbed the crotch of her pants. No genitals were touched.

Right, and if I punch you in your face while I have work gloves on no assult occurred.
