Anyone catch this on Reddit?

These light (or even nonexistent) sentences are what the voters of Arlington have signaled they want through their choices on Election Day. Not changing anytime soon.

Yep. You broke it. You own it.

OK. This seems like a reasonable sentence to me. Next?

Is it going to seem like a “reasonable sentence” when he starts victimizing more women after his light vacation in juvie when he’s 18-20? Or just if he engages in some light groping, that’s ok, but if/when he escalates to armed assault or rape, then it’ll be “oh no how could this happen??!??” What about if he starts posting his videos on sketchy websites for other guys to get off to or get inspiration from?

Also something tells me if this guy was harming animals people would be screaming to throw the book at him because it always escalates to more abuse. But harming women? It’s alright, he’s “just a kid.”

+1

He grabbed her crotch and then ran away when she screamed. Better to focus on treatment program to address his issues than send him to juvie longer to pick up some bad habits.

Cool. I assume you and your daughter will be volunteering to administer the treatment program? Or it's OK as long as other women and girls are getting assaulted?

People are always so quick to dismiss crimes against women.

Pretty sure nothing at all would have happened if there were videos of this kid grabbing guys' crotches and running off.

No. Data shows that individuals who commit sex crimes against men and boys face significantly harsher sentences than those who violate women and girls.

Good Lord. What a way to minimize sexual assault. He had multiple victims and no remorse.

I read about this and was disgusted by it. His sentence was ridiculously light.

He should have been tried as an adult. He did some pretty heinous crimes.

I hope this guy gets expelled if he is in school. No one should have to go to school with someone like that.

I hope Arlington, VA gets blasted in the national news for this too.

There are degrees of sexual assault. You know that right? Raping someone is not the same as groping them and running away.

Clearly Arlington voters disagree. When you elect prosecutors who think criminals are victims of the justice system, these sentences are what you get. I would hope the victim would sue him just so that his name will be forever in the public record

IA! And he recorded himself doing it numerous times.

Do you want your daughter to be in the same school as he is and have classes with him?

I wouldn't. Hell, I wouldn't want to be his teacher.

This sentence is far too light.

Two weeks should straighten him right out!!

Spending more time with other criminals in jail will increase the risk of him committing worse crimes in the future.

10-90 days is plenty when combined with a treatment program.

All but 10 were suspended and the suspended sentence is short too.

You can drop the mansplaining. I am well aware of the various types of sexual assault.

DP. It didn't seem like you were aware of the type of sexual assault that we're discussing here. Sorry for the splaining.
