Why should we take in Venezuelans?

I am in South America right now. You are so, so FOS. The right down here is a lot closer to the European right (effectively socialist and quasi-fascist), and the whole continent is corrupt as hell, right or left. Sure, there are a few right-wing refugees like who came out of Cuba, but that's a unique case. Take the US center and move it 50% to the left and you get the middle down here.

Millions of Venezuelans are trying to flee their crappy economy and have settled in Peru or Colombia. But now they’ve changed their mind and want to move on from those countries to Los estados unidos.

I’m sorry, but why is it the US’ responsibility to take in Venezuela’s entire population because they ruined their own economy electing in socialist idiots into office? Where in world law does it state that any country is required to offer asylum to economic migrants? They already found safe harbor to Colombia and Peru, so you cannot claim they’re escaping persecution from government. Biden has made a disaster of the border and the message is clear - if you want better economic opportunities head to the states, no waiting in line is necessary. Just walk in. Absolutely disgusting.

look we could either expand healthcare/medicaid to help US poor citizens.

or we could import millions of illegal aliens.

which would you do with someone elses money? when your own family has healthcare?
The importation of millions it to get them on the census to increase congress.

This is a big issue with Hispanic voters. Particularly the redesignation for summer 2023. Biden resdesignated to allow all the migrant caravans to qualify for TPS, which incentives caravan migration and the situation that we have at the border. I would say this will definitely impact Florida, as many Vz citizens who immigrated previously live there. As my SIL from VZ explained to me, she won't be voting for Biden because she "escaped VZ to get away from these people". The talk in the VZ community is that the current wave are the vagrants who have caused all the crime in their communities and they do not want them here.

Talk about getting on the lifeboat and pulling the ladder up behind you....

Sure, you’re more than welcome to come. Wait in line like everyone else!

Except no one is waiting in line.

Poc here — South Americans outside of Brazil are more racist than mayflower whites in the northeast and Midwest

Have spent lots of time in Colombia, Argentina and Uruguay and Mexico

A truly trash place

Venezuelans vote Republican like Cubans do. They don’t want what they have experienced in their country here.

85% of Venezuelan refugees are in Peru, Columbia, Ecuador, and Chile. Most of the rest are in Latin America and the Caribbean, so yes Mexico too. It is very difficult for refugees to get to Canada, ironically because of a border agreement between the US and Canada, but the ones who do are still living there safely.

We have only 7% of the total number of Venezuelan refugees. We are not the first country they want to jump to.

How they vote is no good reason for admitting or denying their needs as refugees.

Won't low income black Americans suffer the most from such mass immigration ? Government benefits & private sector jobs will go to industrious, desperate immigrants instead of our own needy citizens.

Already happening in many D states

This also hurts low income whites as well as low income blacks.

It also hurts men licensed to work in the trades.

NP. So is your position that any foreign citizen who (by their own definition) is "suffering" and manages to make it to the United States should be allowed to bypass the legal immigration system and live/work here? And be supported by taxpayer funds? And as a follow-on question, do you think the U.S. should have an open border such that any foreign citizen can move here at will? That seems to be what you're implying, but I really don't understand how anyone could actually believe, in good faith, this is a good policy.

Wow, no wonder you don't care about suffering people, if you think this is the only caring response.
